Re: RAID 10 options

Glad to hear you got the truth. It helps when you have a bit of background understanding on your side. I think you'll find the other boards were also chipset software RAID with a smattering of configuration and next to 0 features typical of a true RAID controller. I was heavily invested in IT for a ...

Re: Modern browsers and Flash

Chrome will not load flash automatically, but will offer an install flash button which will enable flash if it's already installed. Can be confusing, but its a sign they intend to fully kick it out the back door. Should have been done many years ago imho

Re: RAID 10 options

Excluding drivers, Linux is perfectly capable of operating with RAID, if it weren't, we wouldn't have the internet as we know it. My understanding of chipset based RAID is that it is not so much hardware RAID, but proprietary software RAID handled through the motherboard, so you most likely have a s...

Re: MX18 Epson Printing does not function

Addendum to my first post, the Epson drivers you've installed from Epson will most likely mess with the install process by giving you a fistful of additional print drivers and options to choose. Remove them and go with the original driver provided with MX-18. The Epson drivers may have a few more fe...

Re: MX18 Epson Printing does not function

You've only provided half the information needed to receive assistance. How is the printer connected? Wireless Epsons work perfectly provided you've set them up properly, which requires at the very least, a smattering of knowledge on networking and the key thing with ALL wireless printers is, ALWAYS...

MX being added to a Linux chooser list

Found this neat Linux Distro Chooser site today and contacted the person behind it to ask if he'd consider adding MX Linux to his distro chooser. Sent him a link to the MX Linux home page. https://librehunt.org He responded really quickly with "looks very interesting" then 5 hours later added a job ...

Re: How to create an ISO image ?

How is the /media/Backup_Linux/ disk location connected to your system and what type of storage medium is it? I have the impression that it is through USB, which can be a serious bottleneck, esp if a Windows type file system is used. When I create a fresh ISO, use the defaults and the ISO is created...

Re: Move fstrim-mx from cron.weekly to cron.daily ??

Moving? I think you'd have to edit the cron job, not move it, however, having said that, I have to question why? To my way of thinking, running fstrim daily on a Linux desktop system seems beyond excessive. We're not running Windows which thrashes drives, Linux is a hundred times better behaved and ...

Re: New Macs with T2 security chips won't boot Linux

To be a little more concise, it's not such that they can't boot Linux, it's that the signature used by Linux based distros is not in the T2chips list of trusted signatures.
