Re: [solved] Installing fonts?

Font Manager doesn't display properly on my system. The left part of the application is cut off. Also the design is very, very Gnome 3. Yeah, it's a bit of an ugly duckling alright. To get the left side to show, it's necessary to drag the vertical divider to the right, which has to be done each and...

Re: MA browses Windows 10, but Windows 10 can't see MX

Start by typing samba into the search field from the MX Menu button. When it starts, click on Preferences and click on samba users, then select a user from the list, fill out the rest of the fields and save your changes. For Windows to successfully and consistentll make the connection, it's best to ...

Re: Suspend/wake up works in MX16, but not in MX18

In the outputs of both MX18 and MX18, on the 2nd to last line, the first difference is that with MX16, you're using the Intel driver for your chipset graphics and on MX18, you're using the modesetting driver. I'm no expert on this because I only have chipset graphics, but maybe you can try changing ...

Re: Wifi USB Dongle not detected TP-Link TL-WN821N V6

I compiled the 8192eu driver earlier this year and it runs fine on my tiny WN823N USB dongle, except for the startup message about driver module taints the kernel. I'm using it to share my LAN connection from my office PC to anybody that needs a connection so I don't have to share my primary wlan pa...

Re: Why did Windows Update kill grub? - cannot reinstall

Sorry this will offer no assistance to the OP, but...... Q: what goes woof woof and has a nasty bite? A: Windows, cause it's a dog. No disrespect to dogs, I love them, they're amazing animals, just a shame the name given to their type has an ulterior meaning. @ grasshopper, how about attaching a scr...

Re: Firefox vs Chrome - 1080p video on YouTube - interlacing

Works fine in both firefox 66.0.2 and in Chrome at 1080p full screen, no lines in either, but what I did notice was the white in your video is not as bright as the white page background used in youtube when the video is not being played in full-screen mode, so the interlacing lines you see may be du...

Re: Dual monitor setup help

Welcome to MX Linux. The monitor setup can vary depending on your graphics hardware, so you must keep this in mind because the Xfce Display screen will vary depending on what hardware is present and what level of support your driver can provide. To start with, with the 2nd screen attached, click the...

Re: pm-suspend asking for root password

Two more of my systems fell prey to the same behaviour after installing updates and others running Debian based systems have reported it too. Turns out the setting that cures the issue is in the Security tab of the Xfce Power Manager for the heading Light Locker. Change the option for Automatically ...

Re: Easy Wifi hotspot

Ooh, there's also one other consideration, chipset quirks. My 2nd laptop sometimes struggles to connect to some WAP's but my production laptop has no such issues connecting to the same WAP. I've had my phone refuse to connect to some hotspots I have tested too, but my wifes phone connects straight a...
