Re: Thinkpad AntiX/ MX Use

Evening Gordon,

Just a note on T430, x64:
I have used x64: MX17, MX17.1, antiX-17.1, antiX-17.2
. . . . . . . . . . 386: MX17.1, antiX-17.1, antiX-17.2

Nice job on gathering up the information. More memory and SSD makes it better. :)

Re: MX and Devuan?

Thanks, ChrisUK, you are spot on. I thought I'd tried that but didn't. It is there, if one were so inclined to use it. Honestly, I can think of easier ways to have systemd and Gnome than to install it on antix-full. But, different strokes for different folks. Everyone is welcome to try whatever come...

Re: MX and Devuan?

You must really try hard to break antix.

On antiX-17.2_386-full with stock repos on EeePC 1005HA:

Code: Select all

# apt-get update && apt-get -s install libsystemd
returns

Code: Select all

E: Unable to locate package libsystemd

Re: MX and Devuan?

misko-2083's argument that antix is broken because it allows one to break it if you try hard enough. I thought that was the foundation of linux. You are free to try whatever you wish. There are many ways to break it. And you might find a new way of fixing it. :) Reminds me of buying a car with a die...

Re: MX and Devuan?

What happens when a user of antix want's to install gnome for example
Then you are no longer running antiX and it is not an antiX problem. :)

You could choose among the distros mentioned here that include gnome:

Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles

For some people, the problem is always something or someone else.
Guess we'll never know the OP's real problem.
