Re: MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback

I never thought I'd feel this way, but I'm hoping a MX-17 final release is not too soon. It'll take me 10+ hours to download RC1 on dial-up & I was having video related crashes with beta 3 . So now I'm hoping I'll have enough time to post data on the crashes if they continue in RC1 --- and some...

Re: MX-17 Beta 3 Feedback

I am getting an error when I try to run smxi or any relative: url failed with wget error Is it working for others? working fine here...HDD install fully updated b3 I think you should only get the 'url failed with wget error' the first time you try to use inxi|sgfxi|smxi|svmi, in those cases the /us...

I am getting an error when I try to run smxi or any relative: url failed with wget error Is it working for others? That's an error with the smxi/sgfxi/svmi/inxi stub installer (does anyone use svmi ?) in the /usr/sbin folder. Below are the urls, the smxi.org urls all throw a 403 error, the inxi thr...

Re: MX-17 Beta 3 Feedback

Installing virtualbox 5.2 from MXPI, with the liquorix 4.14 kernel running that had been installed earlier today using MXPI as well. Error message displayed during installation. Text of /var/log/vbox-install.log follows: make V=1 CONFIG_MODULE_SIG= -C /lib/modules/4.14.0-2.3-liquorix-amd64/build SU...

Re: Apache OpenOffice (AOO) better than LibreOffice?

In synaptic, from the menu Package>Lock Version Doing so only prevents selecting the package for upgrade within synaptic. Doing so will not prevent the "locked" package from being upgraded from commandline: sudo apt upgrade (I did not test whether that "lock" is respected by Apt...

usb-modeswitch and usb-modeswitch-data updates

I see that newer versions are available in Buster & Sid for both usb-modeswitch and usb-modeswitch-data, maybe they can be backported to Stretch for MX-17 and to Jessie for MX-15/16. Updated versions will add support for newer devices and might help with the problem here: https://forum.mxlinux.o...

Re: MX-17 Beta 1 Feedback Thread

@Max17,

Could you post the output of this:

Code: Select all

 inxi -Nxxx

We can check the Chip-ID it will print out against the list of supported devices here: https://wiki.debian.org/rt2800usb#Supported_Devices, though I think it should come back as supported.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The firefox thread

... is there a way to get rid of window titlebar like in Chrome (it saves a bit of screen real estate). I found this here: http://ccm.net/faq/40304-firefox-how-to-hide-the-title-bar but it's not working for me in MX-16.1, in Customize it doesn't show a Title Bar button for me. I also found this ext...

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

This is the big one, right? After this plugins may have trouble? It is, actually add-ons (extensions) are the problem. They're changing to "WebExtensions" type add-ons and I think the old .xpi type add-ons/extensions won't work anymore with FF57. I've changed most of my add-ons over to We...

Re: How to install Sigil?

Sigil is only in the repos if you're running something Stretch based (like MX-17 beta1) or Buster/Sid. It's not in the Jessie or Wheezy repos, so if you're running MX-14. x /MX-15/MX-16. x apt-cache policy won't find it. https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=sigil&searchon=names&suite=...
