Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The linux-liquorix kernel thread

It is probably not a good idea since the new kernel was built with gcc6.3 while MX-15 uses gcc4.9 (I think). I've been using a 4.14 rc1 kernel for a little over a month now without any problem, it was built with gcc 7.2.0. I can't install it's linux-headers package(s) but I don't need to build kern...

They are here: http://repo.antixlinux.com/stretch/pool/main/l/linux-4.13.4-antix.1-amd64-smp/

The "stretch" I highlighted means it's in the antiX-17 / MX-17 repos, any plans to add it to the MX-15/16 (jessie) repos ?

Re: Oracle releases Virtual Box 5.2.0

If you have the Oracle repository enabled and are using an earlier release such as "virtualbox-5.1", as usual this will not be an automatic upgrade, since the new version is "virtualbox-5.2" and is seen as a different package. Installing the newer version will remove any earlier...

Re: New WPA2 Vulnerabilities

First the bad news. A fairly easy way to attack the wpa2 wireless encryption that nearly all of us use has been discovered. http://www.zdnet.com/article/wpa2-security-flaw-lets-hackers-attack-almost-any-wifi-device/ The good news is that debian security has already patched the vulnerability in wpa-...

Re: laserjet printer

At the hplip support page for the p1606dn here: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/mo ... 606dn.html, it says it requires a downloadable driver plug-in which I think you install with hp-setup.

Re: Not success to install Debian 4.9 kernel

If the OP is running mx16, then there is a little.mistake. those kernel options should only appear in mx17 alpha right now. I'm also seeing it recommend the 4.9 kernel on my MX-16.1 install and I do have the mx15/main version mx-packageinstaller-pkglist installed. Looking at /usr/share/mx-packagein...

Re: screen display

unfortunately .... nothing with the command sudo make-xorg-conf 1280x..... -o /etc/X11/xorg.conf Did you actually use the 1280x1024 resolution like example shown in the wiki? If you did try changing it instead to the 1920x1080 resolution that you really want. sudo make-xorg-conf 1920x1080 -o /etc/X...

Re: YouTube videos don't play in FF

Please reread the instructions given by nik.gnomic . You need to press the BUTTON refresh firefox when in that about screen. I don't know how to open Firefox in the terminal. How do I do that? What refresh button? It doesn't involve opening Firefox in a terminal. In the addressbar type in "abo...

Re: Check for Updates when Package Box is Empty

For the most part I think the updated packages should all be in the repos when the notifier is indicating that updates are available, and it shouldn't matter whether you wait for the daily update or do it manually. I say that because I think .debs and source gets uploaded first, then the index files...

Re: ukuu

Never heard of Ukuu. I've been trying different ubuntu kernels though, like the one shown below, but I download them manually from: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and install with gdebi. I only download and install the linux-image-* packages, don't bother with the headers because the...
