Re: Which of these two video cards works best on MX?

You might (or might not) have to force the use of the AMDGPU driver by blacklisting the radeon driver - but that's no harder than installing the nvidia drivers. On MX-18.x I think the RX 580 should automatically use the amdgpu driver without forcing it, I don't think it's even supported by the rade...

When I removed the check for "automatically close terminal window when full/basic upgrade complete" So I could give you that information, it fixed it. I put the check back for it.
Forgot about that option (and it's something I probably wouldn't have tried anyway), glad it worked for you.

But it still shows that they need to be upgraded even though I ran the upgrade.
So what does the output in the terminal look like if you proceed with the upgrade(s) the 2nd or 3rd (or whatever) time?

Re: Updator is broken

Could you run the updater's history option and post it's output? That way I can see what updates you received today.

I don't see any such setting. I never change the default setting of full upgrade in "Preferences."
In the preferences dialog it's full upgrade (recommended) & basic upgrade.

Full upgrade is the default.

Re: Updator is broken

I'm not seeing it here. Also I'm unclear on what the problem is, is it that the notification doesn't go away after installing upgrades, or is the Upgrade button on the View&Upgrade window unresponsive. @Jerry, what does `apt-get dist-upgrade -s' show?

Re: Mx-updater Not Showing and Maybe Not Working

...I might of set to not show unless updates available. But since I think it's not working it now never shows in the tray. ... Type "MX Updater" in the Whiskermenu searchbar, then click on the menu entry it finds. That should bring the MX Updater icon out of hiding and make it show up in the system...

Re: testing for MX 18.3

I don't know where your 43 is coming from, but we are looking at 37-2 for the 18.3 iso. It looks like it's up to a -3 (4.19.37-3) now in buster & stretch-backports: https://packages.debian.org/source/buster/linux edit: nevermind, -3 was just to fix a fail to build problem for powerpc, so -2 is prob...

Re: Updating as a regular user

Isn't Unattended Upgrades the setting in MX-Updater that manyroads and I mentioned? I'm not sure, does that setting install and configure the unattended-upgrades package? Unattended-Upgrades is enabled/disabled by the 'Auto-update' setting in the MX Updater preferences dialog. (btw I'm not crazy ab...
