Re: Wow, somebody was busy uploading our ISOs to archive.org

Can you regenerate isos from burned CDs?

I think I might still have some old MEPIS CDs around here somewhere, like 2003.10 and SimplyMepis2004.

Re: Warning MX Updater

Yes, if you can catpure the warning get rid of it, as "dialog" ( the nc-cursor dialog) is the default fallback and shall work always. :puppy: Is the O.P. (f.denys) getting that error because he doesn't have debconf set to use Gnome as it's frontend? I thought that had been fixed already (frontend s...

Re: Warning MX Updater

Maybe i'll try to add DISPLAY to sudoers, but i am reluctant changing sudoers... Don't do that. We need to check/fix mx updater, to handle this properly. I'm not sure how to fix it. I don't see the warning here but I'm running a MX-16.x install (I'd have to doublecheck but I don't think I see it in...

Re: Enabling numlock on login screen

oops sorry, does not work on login screen  but works after login. :p That works here for me for MX17.1 (file to modify): cat /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/02_MX-17.conf # Debian specific defaults # # - use lightdm-greeter session greeter, points to the etc-alternatives managed # greet...

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

I was just checking out MX-18 beta 1 and so far looks great except I found that password box is an inconsistent strange size on MX-18 as it was in MX-17.1 when you right click on the update icon and select check updates opposed to left clicking on it. I wasn't able to do a screen shot on MX-18 but ...

Re: iMac Broadcom WiFi driver issue

The wiki article you referenced is showing how to un-blacklist (enable) the b43 driver which I don't think you want. I believe the /etc/modprobe.d/broadcom-sta-dkms.conf file should look like this if you want to use the wl driver. https://sources.debian.org/src/broadcom-sta/6.30.223.271-9.1/debian/b...

Re: Disable system updates? [BRICKED]

Ok thanks, good to know. I don't use apt-notifier so I thought it is behaving as the terminal which doesn't honor pinned packages in Synaptic. You can do this if you want Synaptic pins honored for terminal mode updates|upgrades sudo ln -sf /var/lib/synaptic/preferences /etc/apt/preferences.d/synapt...

Re: Disable system updates? [BRICKED]

can veto future updates with 'apt-mark hold grub-pc" (run as root). But IIRC this works for apt but may not be honored by synaptic. Yes, synaptic recognizes and abides the holds. Can also initiate a hold from within synaptic. Here's how: After setting focus on a given line in the packages listing, ...

Re: aptoncd: handy tool for reinstallations/unconnected systems

Do i have to install it to both the machines??? From what I see in the description I don't think it needs to be installed on the machine with the internet connection apt-offline can be used to generate a signature on a machine (with no network). This signature contains all download information requ...
