Re: MX Updater process

...First I never see any updates shown on my system. Maybe I don't give it a long enough time... Having the Auto-update preference (which enables/disables unattended upgrades) checkmarked will usually disable the updates available indication, the exception being when a dist-upgrade (aka full upgrad...

Re: logon screen screenshot ?

I've used the 2nd approach that I found here ("Better but slightly complicated way of taking screenshot of login screen in Ubuntu and other Linux"): https://itsfoss.com/screenshot-login-screen-ubuntu-linux/ But my notes on this are over 3 years old -- did it with Debian Jessie (Xfce). I'll have to ...

One thing...you can purge off the nvidia drivers with

Code: Select all

ddm-mx -p nvidia

And you can verify they're all gone with the dpkg command I posted earlier. It shouldn't show any *nvidia* packages installed except for nvidia-detect and maybe also nvidia-installer-cleanup.

...script is building the right install command
I don't see it trying to install any 340xx packages here with the install command.

Re: MX-18.2 - Firefox scrollbar width

/*set custom gtk3/css code below */ *{ -GtkRange-slider-width: 15; } That works when I try it. on MX-18.1 I tried as root to enter the file: ~ / .config / gtk-3.0 to put in the string above, but I found an existing file named gtk.css That might be why it didn't work, you should add the changes to ~...

Re: ddm-mx: NVIDIA 304.xx Legacy installation bug

ddm-mx should have chosen the 304xx series driver for your 6150 LE

This will show the *nvidia* packages that are currently installed

Code: Select all

dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia | awk '{print $2,$3,$4}' | column -t

Re: another expired key (not one of ours), dl.google.com - Chrome

Seems to be fixed now, I don't get the warning anymore when running a `apt-get update'. I didn't do anything to fix it, the first answer/comment here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1133273/what-to-do-with-keyexpired-1555048520-on-updating-google-chrome-and-earth-reposi?noredirect=1&lq=1 says Googl...

Re: another expired key (not one of ours), dl.google.com - Chrome

Can we add this functionality, sounds like a good idea (obviously it would work only once Google release a new key). I could have it check for & remove expired key(s) when checkaptgpg starts up, and then have it can try downloading the now missing key(s). But like you said a fresh updated key needs...

Why is the "Fix GPG keys" script not fixing this? Can we make it work?
It (checkaptgpg) was created to fix NO_PUBKEY errors, not expired key errors.

[solved] another expired key (not one of ours), dl.google.com - Chrome

Today there's another expired key warning when updating, not for one of our keys this time, but the key for the Google Chrome repo. Reading package lists... Done W: GPG error: http://dl.google.com stable Release: The following signatures were invalid: KEYEXPIRED 1555048520 KEYEXPIRED 1555048520 KEYE...
