You get that error when you add a `deb https: ...' repo entry, run the command below and post the output

The icedove => thunderbird profile migration / "adoption" mentioned in the Debian wiki article that Jerry linked to is a feature that's missing in our MX repo Thunderbird package.

Your first image shows that you have the latest version of vlc installed, have you tried completely closing vlc and reopening it?

I found that VLC 2.2.5.1 is the latest release, so am trying to build that instead. We can also try the liblircclient-dev build-depend we have in Jessie instead of upstream's liblirc-dev.
