Please make sure you understand that MX-17 does not have an official KDE version. MX-16 did? I was able to install it in MX-16 as well as MX-14 It was not an official version. It was a respin by a community member and not officially supported. It is likely at some point that member will do one for ...

I found the solution. The package "sonnet-plugins" needs to be installed for any KDE applications to use spell check. sonnet-plugins pulls in hspell which is also apparently required. Closing and re-launching KWrite caused sonnet-plugins to be installed and spell check worked. Suggestion:...

What still is not working for me is spell check as you type, although it is checked in Preferences. And hspell was listed as a Hebrew dictionary.

I'm a fan of old and cheap laptops (which can snappily run GNU/Linux while being slow torture devices as paired with pre-installed Windows 10 crapw...
