Re: Snap/Snappy... Flatpak & the future?

ManyRoads, although I've read "no, technically, flatpak does not require systemd" I've repeatedly worried that debian's implementation might, or soon will. Hey, can check easily enough. I did so just now, from an antiX17 system. Launch synaptic, click mark-for-installation flatpak, apply... ...its ...

Re: Snap/Snappy... Flatpak & the future?

Don't know about snaps but I stay away from flatpacks. They just bring in too many libraries. An option for flatpacks was added to MXPI for convenience. Our packagers are very good at re-packaging newer app versions for our repos. I prefer that model. Opinions will vary. More on snaps in MX. The pro...

I've been using Insync for Google Drive after dumping Dropbox about six months ago. No complaints.
I use insync as well without a problem along with Dropbox. I sync the two directories with FreeFileSync so have files backed up in two different places. Google Drive storage is very inexpensive,

Re: Time to drop Dropbox?

I received the "Dropbox no longer will support on my partition message" in an email. But it said it supported ext4. So I emailed their support and after a couple of emails back and forth the service guy said I was OK for the future. No mention was made of dropping Linux support So I am staying with ...

Re: Conky Manager?

Conky Manager in MX has an icon in the menu bar that brings up the highlighted conky configuration text in Featherpad. providing an easy way to get to it.

EDIT: MX Conky also has a link to a text editor.

Re: Create symlink bug

Thanks for the xfdesktop --reload. That was painless. Fixed the problem. Took me longer to write this reply than the fix the problem. Thunar + XFCE desktop have some clear deficiencies when working with symlinks. 1) Dragging & dropping to the desktop from Thunar moves a file/directory & doe...

Re: mongodb / couchbase not start, may be coz of lack of systemd?

The post references systemctl which is sytemd specific. MX boots by default to a non-systemd system. This could be the issue. There is a boot option for systemd under Advanced options. You may want to try that.

Re: Conky Manager?

It is conky-manager. You can start it from the whisker menu. Just type conky-manager in the search bar..
I know of noy MX dev videos on editing conkies but there are probably some out there on the net. Just do search in Youtube. I learned the basics by looking at existing ones and trial and error.

Thought it looked familiar--probably won't include variants.
That is fine.
