Re: Re: Laser printer belly-up

Yesterday I read https://wiki.debian.org/SystemPrinting and so I tried #apt-get install task-print-server as superuser and then re-added the printer via the CUPS web interface, choosing the Connection: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_2200?serial=00CNGRG82745 and the Model: HP LaserJet 2200 pcl3, hpcups 3.12.6 (...

Musical tribute to Debian Linux

A musical tribute to Deb and Ian's creation, the best operating system of the twentieth century and early twenty-first century, in my humble opinion Shine on, you Crazy Diamond.

Re: Laser printer belly-up

May 14 This morning I reinstalled my laser printer as an HPLIP local printer called HPLJ3, using CUPS web interface. I looked for HP LaserJet 2200 pct3, hpcups 3.14.6 , but couldn't find it. The closest I saw was HP LaserJet 2200pcl3, hpcups 3.12.6 (en) , so I chose that instead. I installed this to...

Re: Laser printer belly-up

Thank you, all, for reporting your progress, or lack thereof. This morning I was able to load from a USB thumb drive and print a file, an odt, with text & graphics. I also printed a text file from kwrite. To do this, I used my 64-bit Solydk Live DVD (solydk_8_64_201606.iso) I printed the odt fro...

Re: Weather update?

I disabled my KDE Plasma weather data display (CWP Version 1.11.1 A customizable weather plasmoid http://wwwkde-look.org/content/show.php/show.php?/content=98925) because its weather data display was incomplete and not up-to-date. There didn't seem to be a working weather-data service mechanism base...

Re: Laser printer constipated

I would appreciate that, Gordon. The MX16_KDE_added_March_2017.iso did not print. I saved an open document (libreoffice) file onto a USB stick. I will try printing it with a couple more live DVD's. If I make any progress, I will report it. If anybody knows how to reinstall CUPS from an online repo.,...

Re: Laser printer constipated

Wondering if reinstalling the printer driver from MX16_KDE_added_March_2017.iso might solve the problem.

Re: Laser printer constipated - SOLVED

Today, May 8, CUPS no longer prints on my laser printer. Nor does "Print Test Page" button under K->System->Print settings....R click printer icon....Properties. (Yes, the printer is "Enabled" under this menu. Yes, the documents still show up as "pending" in the "D...

Re: Laser printer constipated - SOLVED

Today, May 7, I saw a FAIL message while doing a routine software update: # apt-get update && apt-get upgrade Hit http://ftp.us.debian.org wheezy Release.gpg Hit http://dl.google.com stable Release.gpg Get:1 http://ftp.us.debian.org wheezy-updates Release.gpg [1,554 B] Hit http://security.de...
