Re: sudo doesn't work for apt in terminal

Code: Select all

sudo apt update && apt upgrade
There you go, you ran only the first command as root, you need:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

Re: sudo doesn't work for apt in terminal

Delete /var/lib/dpkg/lock and restart (not needed, just to make sure) and then it should work. Probably something happened when you were doing a update or installation and the lock was not removed.

Re: Installer makes Finish at Step 6

Installer skips creating account only if you have an account other than demo on your live environment. Do you have anything else in /home? Any other folder except "demo"?

Karen questioned if these are the correct links.

64bit https://archive.org/download/MX18.1X64/ ... ve.torrent

32bit https://archive.org/download/MX18.1386/ ... ve.torrent
Those links are fine.

Re: 64-bit torrent link broken

Didn't do anything to that that to require log in access on archive.org but I'm not that familiar with the site and is kind o...

Re: Live USB error vmlinuz ( Solved!)

If you didn't change the compression type that might be a sign of problems with the USB flashdrive.

Re: What was your first Linux distro?

I found out about Linux after using some open source apps with Windows XP; thought it sounded like something I might like. Funny, but kind of the contrary happened to me, once I heard that Xandros comes with Opera which I was using at that time I figured out that if Linux runs fine the app that I u...

Re: What was your first Linux distro?

About 18 years ago I tried Red Hat first, or whatever the non-commercial version was. Then Xandros which I used for some time. Them found Mepis in 2003 and I have been with Mepis and now MX continuously since then Why Linux? I wanted to learn something new. Wow, such a similar path, the difference ...
