Re: Live USB with persistance

but the usb stick (32 Gb) is not writable so it asks to me where to save.
How did you create the USB stick? Did you use live-usb-maker (or GUI mx-live-usb-maker)? If you used dd or other way to write the stick it might create a useless stick (from the POV of persistency).

Re: Why do most distros use grub(?).

Besides the technical reasons provided about It might also be because GRUB is a GNU project... many distros give GNU programs priority.

Re: Issue with fstab after reinstall

It's not really a boot problem, there could be a "fix_fstab" tool or something like that, but then this can get a bit complicated depending on what you want to fix and configuration (encrypted or not), I think it needs to be fixed with a lower-level, a CLI tool not in a GUI one.

Re: Issue with fstab after reinstall

Your root partition was reformatted and this changed the UUID so /etc/fstab was incorrect.
That's obvious, I don't understand how come /etc/fstab was not changed at reinstall... how did you install? Where did you run this command "mount -o remount,rw /" in recovery mode?

I agree, but this bugs me a bit.

Even that was true in the past I don't like to over-promise things.

Re: Hostname and the death of sudo

I usually test my MX apps with "sudo -E" that seems to work fine for most intents and purposes.

What init system do you use on MX, the default (sysVinit) or systemd?

Please respond to this poll.

If you use systemd please let us know why, if there's a specific app that you need that runs only on systemd. Same question if you switch between init systems.

I take your point Adrian, but I really hate Google's ownership of my phone which I paid money for.
Wish I could find an alternative... :frown: .
It sounds like the choice is yours... if you are so picky about the companies that make your products you need to vote with your wallet.

And at some point, the forum members will probably suggest that you install a newer MX release.
And as long as it doesn't require to buy new hardware, I think it's the least worst solution ;)
I think latest MX (even the 64bit) runs on hardware people trashed 3 years ago...
