Re: Are the rolling releases became so popular?

Depends on the purpose of the computer, you'd be crazy to use a rolling release for a media server for example or for your parents' laptop, or anything other than your personal computer that you can keep up to date preferable daily. To me, while I enjoyed Arch before coming back to help with MX-14, ...

Re: Problem with MX Test Repository and Systemback

I just tried and was able to install those packages. What version of MX Packageinstaller do you have, can you click on About button in the app and let us know? Most recent is Version: 17.6mx16+5 (EDIT: soon there will be a 17.7 version in the pool), make sure it's fully updated otherwise it might no...

Re: 64/32 bit operation

Why not run 64bit LibreOffice? I use x32 netbook when visiting. Than that won't run the 64bit OS. I'm a bit confused. To install stuff offline is a bit of a pain, nowadays you can install 32 bit apps like this "sudo apt-get install programname:i386" that will download all the 32bit depende...

Re: .posing package lists within MX'websites

Not sure I fully understand you post, but there would be 4 lists that keep changing: 1. List of all Debian packages: thousands and thousands of packages https://packages.debian.org/oldstable/allpackages (but it's not even that list because some packages are newer version of those) 2. List of Test pa...

Re: User_login

I think asinoro gave you the proper solution. It's clear now what happened, the home files ownership got screwed up. If you take ownership back it should work.

Re: howto: git (github) usage

Jerry has previously added me as a collaborator. Not sure how to check, if you try to edit a file in Github what buttons do you see down the page? Here for example https://github.com/jerry3904/mxum/edit/master/README.md If you see "Propose file change" it means you don't have edit rights....

Re: User_login

xfce4-session: Unable to access file /home/fred/.ICEauthority: Permission denied This sounds to me like the problem, I wonder if you accessed/updated that file from a root account so now you cannot access it from your normal user. Can you check the file ownership and permissions: ls -l ~/.ICEauthor...

Re: howto: git (github) usage

! [remote rejected] master -> master (permission denied) error: failed to push some refs to 'https://github.com/jerry3904/mxum' You don't have permission to push to jerry's repo. There are two options: 1. Jerry adds you as a collaborator, that would allow you to push to his repo. 2. You push to you...
