Jeopardy: What is "Tempest in a teapot"?
The same as the UK phrase A storm in a teacup?

Chris
Of course, I prefer the alliteration though...

Re: text replacement help

Not a sed master by any measure, would this work?

Code: Select all

sed -i 's/-dpi [^ ]*/-dpi 200/' filename
That should replace "-dpi xxx" with "-dpi 200"

Try different version of the string here https://regexr.com/ (use only the first part of the sed expression to see what it matches)

Re: What might cause Snapshot temps to rise?

I think it would be "-processors 1" if you want to use only one core.

Re: What might cause Snapshot temps to rise?

Not sure, there are couple of things you can try, one important is to blow some compressed air at the air vents, the fans might be clogged with dust, you'd be surprised how often that happens. Another thing if you don't care about the compression ratio you can try different options like remove -b 26...

Re: MX-18

I think asqwerth meant that we don't need a MX new release for that, just a simple MX Package Installer update (if that is available somewhere in Debian sources or compilable to Stretch)

Re: MX-18

boys ... I only asked when mx18 started to see the light of day and did not expect a discussion about the numbering, this is something that the developers have to determine imo. I'm curious though what you'd want to see in MX-18 that is different than the monthly snapshot (MX-17.1 + all pool update...

Re: MX-18

It makes sense to hold up for technical reasons (like Debian builds Buster now as Testing and will release when they are ready) but for adding some feature in apps that don't bother other things I don't think we'll wait for the next release.
