Re: antiX forum change - tapatalk?

We already have an antiX section on this forum, if they want to use that they can.
Personally I would like antiX forums and front page (a Wiki) their presence on the web in general to look a bit more professional...

Re: MX Linux Backup and Restore your running system

Also there's Clonezilla if you want to clone the entire drive or a partition, you can install it in MX, it can be used to clone Windows and Linux partitions.

Re: New user gets "plain" xfce desktop

Used the MX User Manager tool to add a user. However the new user didn't have the Mx16 desktop when logging in. Rather, the vanilla xfce desktop was rendered. How can I add the Mx16 desktop for a new user? Thanks That's not supposed to happen, can you give us more details, what version do you use? ...

Re: How can one trust a Linux distribution?

Why do you ask about Ubuntu on the MX Forum?! Let me see... poster with one post on this forum who sets limit to what people can respond and uses false info "Ubuntu’s susceptibility of spyware (Amazon searches in Unity)" -- that's not spyware, that's at most adware, it's actually supporte...

Re: Code to delete cache

In mx-user we delete /home/.cache/*
In my experience that can create some problems with some browsers (you might need to do a refresh for some pages to work right).

Re: Weird Live-ESP anomalies.

There's a check for 32bit in installer and doesn't let install on ESP when it detects 32bit, don't remember the reason we disabled support for 32bit UEFI. At one time (during MX-15's development) I think we were thinking we wouldn't be able support 32bit UEFI, I don't know what the situation is now...

Re: MX Linux Backup and Restore your running system

That's true, but it depends what you want to use it for and how many mount points you have (you can use -x to copy only the files from one file system, it excludes mount points).

Re: MX Linux Backup and Restore your running system

I had good success with rsync, what I like about it it can do incremental updates, I usually do this:

Code: Select all

rsync -av /mnt/sda1/ /mnt/backup

To make sure it deletes the file on target after the update:

Code: Select all

rsync -av --delete-after /mnt/sda1/ /mnt/backup

Re: Can't make bootable Usb Stick (ISO tp USB)

Right--let me point to the standard reference: Users Manual Section 2.2.3 You know I want a gui and that the USB tool from MX16 doesn't work on all distros?? It's a tool for creating antiX and MX live USBs it doesn't work for all distros (AFAIK). As for running on other distros it might be possible...
