Re: MX Linux hit #7

I think I'm the only MX user and forum member who thinks this is just awful. Every tick up that chart means the forum gets more and more posts like: 1) I just installed MX, and here's my opinion of your miserable attempt. 2) The window frames are not to my liking, so "it's crap." 3) Ubuntu doesn't ...

Re: Monthly snapshot announcement

I recreated the 32bit ISO, now without the panel problem. The new ISO name: MX-17.1_May.2_386.iso

While its easy to duplicate on the April iso, I don't seem to be able to replicate the problem updating from the Original March iso.
I think it might not be worth spending too much time on it, I will simply rebuilt the 32bit May snapshot on the Original 17.1.

Re: Panel dissapearing on Startup at random.

adrian, is this reproducible on VB? Yes, use the April snapshot http://iso.mxrepo.com/Snapshots/ reconfigure or reinstall libc-bin (I did "aptitude reinstall libc-bin") then run "xfce4-panel -r" you'll see the error. That's when running Live, haven't tried installed. I see that people who reported ...

Re: Monthly snapshot announcement

I think I narrowed it down to libc-bin re-configuring (triggered by curl, but not only) so if I take April 32bit snapshot and do a "aptitude reconfigure libc-bin" I get the problem, I don't get it with the MX-17.1. I will run a diff to see what changes... Let's continue this discussion in the threat...

Re: Panel dissapearing on Startup at random.

OK, it's not curl exactly, curl installation triggers a libc-bin reconfig and I think that creates the problem, at least on April Snapshot 32bit.

Can anybody who reported the problem post info if they use 32bit and if they installed from a snapshot or from 17.1 ISO?

Alright! The 17.1 original release had no problem with a dist-upgrade.
That's very strange, let me test more.

Re: Panel dissapearing on Startup at random.

Whenever I upgrade curl (which also updates libcurl3) it creates this problem for 32 bit MX-17.x, I will ask packagers to take a look and repackage it.

It's curl or libcurl3, I will ask packagers to take a look and repackage it.

Re: Monthly snapshot announcement

I will test the 32 update on 32-bit one by one to identify which causes the problem. Yet another advantage of monthly snapshots we can trace easier this kind of problems...
