Re: MC (Midnight Commander) won't open nano on F4

Been using MC as file manager for over 100 years (or thereabouts??)... Midnight Commander has only been around for 25 years - I've used it roughly 20 of those. Sounds about right! Just seems like 100 sometimes ey?! It was one of the 1st Linux programs to convince me about "do one job; do it we...

Re: MC (Midnight Commander) won't open nano on F4

Probably because there's a default keyboard shortcut in MX mapping F4 to xfce4-terminal --hide-menubar --hide-borders --drop-down which brings up a drop-down terminal. You can use Start -> Settings -> Keyboard -> Application Shortcuts (tab) to remove that shortcut. Midnight Commander will then see ...

Re: polybar installation [Solved]

Thanks @Stevo & @manyroads for this thread and your efforts. I LOVE Polybar; always use it on Openbox installs. This will go great with my Antix Fluxbox installs I hope?!

Re: MX is now #3 on DistroWatch over 7 days

I think that people are inherently "stable" in their outlook. A bit of good press about how rock solid MX is and the fact that we still get essential apps kept current; combined with the superb level of support received from the developers and "wam bam thank you maam" you have a ...

Re: <SOLVED> Logging into Antix forums

I managed to set up the captcha for new registrations, but not show for participants and the spam is very low. No need for spam hunters (at least for now). Also, this post spurred me to look closer at the captcha plug-in options we use and set it up better. Everyone's a winner! Everyone's a winner!...

Re: Logging into Antix forums

Much easier, thank you @anti. However, I did not ask the original question with an aim to make your valuable time more harrowed. I have no problem with you setting spam traps in front of the page, I just thought there might be an alternative to the photos that I have a lot of difficulty with? I will...

<SOLVED> Logging into Antix forums

Just been trying to log into Antix forums again and failing. The problem I have is with those poky images for "robot" checking! I am of "aging" years with poor eyesight and, seriously, I can't make out half the detail in those photos. They are too small and unclear. I simply give...

Re: "Linux is about choice"

He describes the Linux I came through - 1988 (then early 90's in earnest) to now. Nowadays I find I have to bite my tongue and aplogise a lot to newbies because I dare to suggest they get out of the way of their own shadow and participate in their own solutions?! Still, great journey, have not had a...
