Re: Firefox - Reinstall & Restore Config & Saved Info

1. Never used : Firefox or Thunderbird => simply copy .mozilla or .thurderbird from your backup. 2 Used : delete .directory-used and replace it with the backup. Regarding thumbs, etc... problem mentioned I used the above method since Mx-16 -> Mx-18 (3 times at least because of a small problem with P...

Re: CPU speed problem

Or you can try my solution in rc.local . At the end add : echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor # echo performance > /sys/devices/system/...

Re: Another new kernel problem

Does one really need a boot flag on the root partition for MBR bootloader? Yep. MBR is basically a 440 Bytes (or so) short description of the disk and where to go to boot. Guess what will happen without a boot flag... All nowadays MBR code need boot flag on the root partition of the main system bec...

Re: Seamonkey - Video Download Helper?

" I'm told that Video Download Helper is for FireFox only! I prefer Seamonkey as my browser (Unbranded Firefox, from what I've read). Anyone know of an alternative video downloader that will work with Seamonkey? " youtube-dl (via wget) + aria2c (with a bit of tweaking) works well AND fast for me. As...

Re: How can I fix this graphic glitch?

The proprietary AMD driver is called fglrx.
I would also install the dkms module, just to be sure everything would go fine.
I don't have an Radeon card at the moment.

Re: How can I fix this graphic glitch?

I saw an error : AMD A10-7300 contains only 1 graphic card, an R6 not 2, R6 + R5. I checked AMD site and seems like your card is supported by the actual driver so I would install to test the proprietary driver. For example, my card : $ inxi -Gxx Graphics: Card-1: NVIDIA GK208B [GeForce GT 730] drive...

Re: watch cable tv

Edit 2: I have an Intel/nVidia video combo coupled with an webcam with microphone + an really old tv-tuner based on bt878 so my inxi -F is useless to you and require some system tweaking. I don't really get it what kind of "adapter" will reverse the signals.,. My simple solution would be an search f...

Re: watch cable tv

Probably you make an almost standard error. 99.9% of HDMI ports on PCs are output only. An " inxi -F " from terminal should help if posted here. If any of the Graphics info match the Audio info such as nVidia/AMD/Intel names in those infos then is an standard HDMI Output. I have an Intel/nVidia vide...

Re: Init question.

What about the good old /var/log/boot ?
Open it with... say Leafpad and don't worry abt strange characters.
Press Search -> Find and type " warning " ; then F3 to go to the next one.

Re: CD-ROM Speed

Sorry; my bad.

ejectcd and setcd are 2 small packages in Synaptic which need to be installed.

Usually I keep handy an "package list'" from Synaptic in order to reinstall without problems and I forgot they are not default...
