Re: Can't read superblock

 gosla and mxer. You guys are amazing! I went from toast to back on-the-air. e2fsck identified the problem but didn't repair it. The link provided by mxer did the trick.

Many, many thanks!

Can't read superblock

I am running MX16 or 17 on a HP Pavilion and have used Mepis/MX for years. When I was using VLC media player yesterday to review some camera files, the screen locked up (cursor worked, but all windows were frozen). I finally decided to shut down the maching and reboot. When I did so, my primary data...

Re: Trouble detecting Epson L365 usb scanner

I had apparently installed the Epson drivers in the past but had forgotten (the Package Installer indicated "Same version already installed.") They were the same referenced in the wiki. What I had not noticed was that the Epson drivers install a program called ImageScan. It detects and runs the scan...

Trouble detecting Epson L365 usb scanner - SOLVED

I am using an Epson L365 printer with scanner. It is wifi enabled. I can connect to the printer via USB or wifi (no picnic, as it crashes the Print Settings utility). I have used the scanner via USB with SimpleScan and Scan-to-PDF in the past. It worked with MX-15 but is not recognized with MX-16. A...

Re: Invisible cursor after suspend MX 15

I am now using MX 16 64-bit and no longer have the problem. But it was frustrating when I moved from MX 14 to MX 15 and suspend no longer resumed correctly.

Re: Canon LiDE 50 scanner support in MX-15

frank392, You can edit the /etc/default/tlp file to exclude (blacklist) the scanner port from deactivation. I have MX-16 64 on my old laptop and a new one. Editing the tlp file on the old laptop allows the scanner to run multiple scans. The same trick in the new laptop doesn't work. I am sure laptop...

Re: Canon LiDE 50 scanner support in MX-15t

MX uses a program called tlp for power management. Laptop-mode-tools removes this program. You must be su to configure laptop-mode-tools, somehow from the menu (the command line dosen't recognize it). When I installed laptop-mode-tools, I immediately lost access to the USB mouse I was using. I final...

Re: Installation of a TP-Link TL-WN823N usb wifi dongle

aus9 You are correct that I missed step 4 in my attempt to compile. I am very novice on this stuff! I am actually still running 4.7, but your compiled driver works very well here. I tried the PC in the building where I was having so much trouble and the signal is now strong everywhere. It also works...

Re: Installation of a TP-Link TL-WN823N usb wifi dongle

I disabled the Broadcom chip (quarantined the wl driver) and the TP-Link device is now WORKING!! Many thanks to aus9 and the other Linux geniuses who helped! It it my understanding that this chip will now work with kernel 4.9 ootb. That will be great. I am getting a stronger signal on my home router...

Re: Installation of a TP-Link TL-WN823N usb wifi dongle

OOTB would be nice! I don't know anything about migrating to a newer kernel. I am using the 4.7 kernel that came with the MX-16 distro I installed. I made the suggested changes with the existing kernel, but things still don't work. However, the dongle has a little green light that flashed while the ...
