Re: Are these laptops compatible with mx linux os?

I have no experience of the machines you refer to, but have read their specifications. They seem to be what we used to call netbooks, upgraded so that they are (just) capable of running Windows 10. They are powerful enough to run MX, but their storage is too limited to allow dual booting. Assuming t...

Re: UEFI after 2020 only?

For my two pence (it's about all the spare cash I can find):-
I just hope that future distros will work on the legacy machines.

Skype for Linux and MSwindows -- lots WORSE!

Continuing my rant....
Downloaded Skype to my W7pro netbook : it works but video is jerky and lags several seconds behind audio, and it has the nasty new interface.
So even when I use Mr Gates' own OS I cannot get satisfactory performance from his Skype on my netbooks.

New Skype for Linux -- lots WORSE!

..... .... Those others we chat with are not going to use some other software just because we can't have Skype. Yes, this is the crucial point. I used to be able to video/voice call my family and friends from my boat or from most hotels in europe using my netbook: now I cannot do it unless I go hom...

Video/voice calls do not work on the web version (with Firefox on 32bit Linux).

Re: Skype for Linux -- lots better!

Thanks Jerry,
May I suggest you alter the misleading title of this thread?

Edit: Suggestion for new title "New Skype for Linux -- worse than the old and not available for 32bit machines."

Edit2: New motto for Microsoft "Embrace, Extend, Emasculate (,Extinguish?)."

Skype for Linux -- lots WORSE!

My wife and I have several netbooks running 32bit MX and the new skype-for-linux is 64-bit only.
Very annoying because the old skype was working fine on the netbooks.
So do we have to say goodbye to skype on netbooks or is there some way to get the new skype on a 32-bit MX?

Strange! Old Skype is not working here: I have installed the new one, which is working but it's less pleasant than the old.
