Re: Failed in adding Custom actions in thunar

is the command

Code: Select all

xfdesktop4 -R
??

I always get confused with xfce components. some use the 4 (like xfce4-terminal) and some don't.

Re: Synaptic - Remaining / Complete Packages - Where are they?

unless you are getting stuff from "Popular Apps" or from our test repo, synaptic has a bit more functionality with regular repo packages. For instance, it marks depends packages (MXPI will install them, but it doesn't mark them). I'm with stevo though...this sounds like the apt cache doesn't update ...

Re: need to remind myself which MX version I'm in

Because I currently have both MX-16 and MX-17 installed on their partitions, I have been forgetting which one I'm running at any particular time. Not that I frequently reboot and switch, but if I had a problem and anyone asked me which MX I'm running, I would have no idea. What's a quick way to dis...

Re: VLC jump to fisrt plane at the screen ...

see if you have a setting in your preferences like this:

Capture.JPG
my screenshot is the windows version but I imagine there is something similar in the linux version. by default, its set to bring up the focus to the window when videos change, but not audio files.

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

thunderbird-52.8.0 Have you looked at fehlix's language tweaks for firefox and thunderbird? I need to push out an updated of my findings re embedded lightning. The prefs are doing well, only the embedded lightning-extensions is within the wrong place. Probably I'm not as fast in writing this down a...

Re: Read access to linuxfs and rootfs from Windows

A quick tip for those fellow lads and ladettes who dual-boot a frugal MX and various versions of Windows. 7z and 7zFM can open and access both linuxfs and rootfs, the root persistence file (probably homefs works as well though I have not tested this). So if you just want a quick peek into a file or...

Sure, good luck. Idk if there's an easier way or not?

from a live-USB, mount the installed system's partition and delete that installed version of /var/cache/brightness-settings-cache (the entire folder).

then reboot into the installed system.
