Re: Static Persistence Live USB

I cannot duplicate the OP's experience. for me, with static persistence, any change to the .list files is maintained across reboots. I think there are 2 possibilities. 1. the changes didn't actually save to the .list files, or 2. that some other persistence mode, perhaps /home persistence only, was ...

Re: Adding Appimage to menu

If you place an AppImage outside your home folder then you need to be root to change permission and run it. Isn't that dangerous and maybe also the reason some people don't see the "add to menu" dialog? appimages need the executable permissions set anyway. you do not need to be root to run it once ...

Re: Adding Appimage to menu

appimages only ask if there is a special dameon running, which we do not have (at least they shouldn't ask...I might be wrong about that part) that said... have you created a desktop file? (manually or via menu editor) if the appimage is in /opt/appimages.... [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Type=Applica...

Re: Flatpaks descriptions

yeah, its a shortcoming of our current implementation that descriptions are kind of difficult to bring in.

you can always use google, or

Code: Select all

flatpak search keyword
to get info in the terminal. note the keyword does not have to be a name, it could be anything.

Re: Install MX 17.1 with kernel 4.9 or lower [SOLVED]

You could install MX-Plymouth and have it covered at boot with some distraction. :) Use MX-Boot-Options to set up Plymouth. you can't use plymouth on the live system. and I don't think you can suppress the live boot text messages. most of that stuff is before handoff to the linux init system...

Re: live antiX 17.2 saving data between boots without persistance?

It's the "savestate" system. If you run the live system on writable media, it will attempt to save certain settings either in a general or machine specific basis. Screen brightness and network settings are 2 such items. The system can be disabled with the nosavestate boot code (available in the boot...
