Re: Problems with VLC after update

I was talking online with some guys the other nite, and vlc is really starting to lose it's rep as the go-to media player, although personally for me its been OK. I get issues under both windows and linux, especially with some sort of scrambling of playing mp4 videos. doesn't happen all the time. I ...

Re: newbie help with software install

So how do I get it to work with thunar & supply the gtk+ dependence. Is it even possible with a xfce desktop? I don't think there is any problem with the depends. IIUC, you normally launch this by clicking on the file from inside the file manager, is that correct? given this note on their instructi...

Re: MX Package Installer and Debian 4.9.0-7-amd64 kernel

Thanks. This hasn't been a problem for debians main kernel in the past but maybe it's safer to setup the same autorebuild for it.

For some reason they're not showing on mine. Could it be because I'm running a live USB?

Anyway, it's of no real problem to me, I just thought I'd give it a mention.

live or not shouldn't matter. I suppose video driver in use might. I'm using the intel.

Re: XFWM compositor settings

Some of the shadow settings (eg "show shadow under regular windows") don't seem to be working. When the aforementioned is selected on MX16 shadows immediately appear under windows, whereas on MX17 nothing seems to happen. I can't duplicate this one. the shadows under windows are working correctly h...

Hello,

I see that Debian kernel 4.9.0-6 (installed on my MX) should have been updated to 4.9.0-7.

Why still no updates with MX ?
see your other thread, but for those reading this...debian changed the name of the 4.9 packages.

Re: Why no Debian Kernel updates ?

we do not have debian's kernel metapackages installed by default since we don't use the debain stable kernel by default, plus they changed the name of the kernel package so they won't auto update even if you have the debian kernel's installed. you can install this one: https://packages.debian.org/st...

Re: tumblerd-monitor problem

I am in the middle of a tumblerd-monitor slowdown and I was nowhere near thunar at the time - This would be extremely frustrating to a new user who might think this is some mysterious glitch in MX-17. And after reading through some threads it is not clear to me at all what to do about it. If this t...
