Re: Removing samba also removes mx-apps and mx-system packages.

Mx-apps gets removed because the system-config-samba tool is a depend of it.

Not sure about mx-system. Have to look at that one.

Both are "safe" to remove. We use mx-apps to push out new mx tools when they are available and mx-ssytem is for miscellaneous updates.

Re: Can't upgrade Live Persistent USB stick

New MX Linux fan here... A few days ago I installed MX17 on a 64GB USB sick, with root persistence. It works great. Fast when run from RAM. I've tested the waters with other distros on persistent sticks, and MX17 is the first that seems to be stable enough to work really well and be reliable enough...

Re: Synaptic keeps wanting to reinstall libreoffice

probably uno-lib3 is still installed. we just updated it to fix a different problem and its probably pulling in libreoffice.

uno-lib3 should be safe to remove but pay attention if it wants to remove anything else at the same time. I have no idea about wps's depends.

Re: LibreOffice 6

As a follow-up to this issue, I tried out performing "apt-get dist-upgrade" on a second computer to see how it would go. I can confirm the MX team's findings that the dist-upgrade worked, installing LibreOffice 6 without any issues. So sticking with the default update tool settings does i...

Re: LibreOffice 6

The problem turned out to be 2 libraries that were updating during the "apt-get upgrade" when they shouldn't have. These library packages are now updated with proper depends information so that shouldn't happen now. Main repos are updated already, mirrors should catchup over nite. For thos...

Re: What's the meaning behind the codenames for MX and antiX?

Ok. I guess that's the prerogative of anti. I agree - I think politics should be steered clear of as much as possible in forums. I prefer the MX naming system. BTW - would it be possible to suggest future codenames for MX? By all means! Fair warning...my name suggestions are usually thrown ...
