Re: After last dist-upgrade MX-16.1 cripples if I don't boot with systemd

that's strange. just having jessie-backports isn't usually enough to get updates through a dist-upgrade. at least, not without changing some apt/synaptic settings. by default, jessie-backports (and all the debian-backports) have priority settings such that the shouldn't be used for updates.

Re: Wine

it must have been that, anyway, as a user, I think I do not have to be guessing if the application I run is 32 or 64 bits, nor do I have to be looking for solutions online, I just need it to work. Anyway, thanks for your reply, but I think I'm going back to Xubuntu, when I install Wine, it installe...

Re: add-apt-repository

well 1. ppa's are a ubuntu thing, not a debian thing, so they may not work. 2. even if they do, it looks like the utility you used cannot open /etc/apt/sources.list, likely because it doesn't exist. you can try "sudo touch /etc/apt/sources.list" and then try again. be aware, that while for...

Re: Primus laptops

@dirkme as a wise person once told me, let's see if we can figure out a procedure manually, and then possibly make a tool to do it. check out this wiki. there is a section for debian jessie (which is what mx 16 is based on) and lightdm ( or display/login manager). While it won't switch on the fly, i...

Re: Wine

were you trying to run 32 bit apps in wine? by default, I think the mx-packageinstaller routine only installs 64 bit wine on 64 bit mx and vice versa for 32 bit.

should it install both?

btw, 32 bit architecture is already enabled (i386).

Re: Primus laptops

doing a lot of reading..the nvidia-prime type solutions may require a higher xorg than is currently available in mx-16. might have better luck with mx17.
