Re: Force Composition Pipeline

I just asked dolphin_oracle if he could add this fix to MX Tweak. what does this give on an nvidia and on a primus/bumblebee system grep Loading /var/log/Xorg.0.log |nvidia Nothing for an Optimus system, since that is always using the Intel card to control the display. does the pipeline thing work ...

Re: 32 bit UEFI with 64 bit processor

I have a lappy with a 32bit UEFI and some ultra-cheap hardware. One of the things that I have to do on it is use a 4.17 debian kernel and new firmware from our test repo to get wireless working. I think it is also a realtek...I remember the kernel config variable, I can check tonight when I get home.

Re: System boots into terminal after installing nvidia drivers

in the short run, you should run this:

Code: Select all

ddm-mx -p nvidia

which will undo the nvidia install.

as to what happened? not sure from your repot. you can post the /var/log/ddm.log file, and that might provide some clue. also the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -G

Thanks for the quick response.

Typing service mx-updater status while being root returns the message mx-updater: unrecognized service

It's not a service in that sense. mx-updater is an app running in the background, launched by the user at login by the autostart entry.

Re: How to disable automatic update

Is there an easy way to disable/enable automatic update. I did not find any obvious menu item to do so, other than unchecking the MX Updater in the Application Autostart configuration of Session and Startup. Not even sure if this is the correct way. Also, what is the exact name of that service. Tha...

Great to hear it works, even so long down the line (it's been a while since that was posted :) )

I'm just installing Audacious. The PM list states

Suggested packages:
sndiod

Will this be automatically installed, or will it need a separate installation?
On mx, recommends and suggested are optional and so not autmoatically installed.

Re: MX 17 Greybird does not work with MX 17 test repo whisker update

that is very likely, as our MX_greybird only has a whisker theme for gtk2, not gtk3.

Re: Does anyone really understand Linux fonts?

I've been looking for something/someone who can tell me how we get from font descriptions to what I assume are font bitmaps adjusted to resolution to what I presume is compositing. There are many libraries and utilities, but nowhere is there a good explanation as to the steps and what packages they...
