At the Grub screen, select Advanced Options and then a non-SystemD kernel for this session. If it works, you can make the switch permanent with Boot Options in MX Tools.

You should, for best performance by MX 23, change this:

in you bios to ACHI. Otherwise you can get some odd results.

MX 23 defaults to sudo, so all that is required is your normal log in name and password. Alternatively, you could run:
