.... Also, youtube-dl-gui uses its own internal downloaded youtube-dl which is separate from the system version (as does qmplay2), and the internal version can be updated from within the program.
I didn't know that!

Re: Restore Whisker menu MX default settings

After the install is complete the test repo is disabled. Great. So unless I manually switch to it (or interrupt installation from it) I should be OK. I also appreciate tip from @Richard about suspicious number of packages that suddenly need to be updated. Thanks to both of you! Essentially, don't u...

Re: MX-17 Screenshots

Welcome back, k_sz.

Sorry to hear about all your computer troubles.

And I see you're still very much into the extreme dark look. ;-)

I also use tineye instead of Google image search.

Re: LXQt and KDE respins - personal projects

I'm not sure how KDE deals with that, I guess I will have to leave it on for a day-two to see if it picks updates. You could also set a "apt-get update" cron job to update as often as you want... DPKG probably has a setting that handles that too. Did yours pick up updates? I don't keep booted up to...

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document

This animated Gif is 1.6MB so I provide a link to Drive. It highlights various MX features with relatively concise captions, to help someone new to MX and xfce to locate key features and settings. https://drive.google.com/open?id=17uIKRDbvy6o9cNZYKjcZWxtu9GEsyyLR Best saved locally and opened with ...

(...)Maybe adding a 'MX Help' entry to the Start menu linked to the MX Welcome screen?
I think if you want it visible and easily discoverable, the title has to be more explicit, e.g. "Introduction for Newcomers".

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document

... After reading much of this thread again, and thinking about it, perhaps all that is needed in a Quick Start document is a list of references to Sections of the Manual with a minimum of extra explanation if needed. That is helpful but perhaps will be better within the context of an introductory ...

The update notifier doesn't seem to work automatically for me either, but it pops up immediately if I do an apt-get update.
Yep, but that isn't very helpful.

Re: LXQt and KDE respins - personal projects

Does the KDE version of the update notifier work? I've never seen it pop up in my VM, even after waiting an hour, and I tend to just give up and update manually from terminal.

The repos are switched to the usual ones I use, ie Italy for MX repos, and HK for Debian repos.
