Re: Root password vs user password

I totally agree.
I love root because it reminds me to be careful.
I have never agreed with the way Ubuntu does it.
I use su to change to root in the terminal and it tells me I am in root.

Re: MX-18

I think it is more confusing to change the way you have been doing things.
I would like things to remain as they are for the sake of continuity.
This way the release based on buster would be MX19.
That makes the most sense to me.
Just my two cents.

Re: Makeuseof review

After using Linux exclusively for a number of years it is hard to put myself in a windows users mindset. Using Linux since around 2002 I think it was. I just don't think like that anymore. I purposely left windows because I did not like Microsoft. So yeah it is hard to remember when I was still tied...

Re: gparted won't launch from the program list

Launches same as always here.
Requires a root password for first use as it should.
Have you made any changes to your computer?

Re: Solved: Different display same conky

I found I can use most of the mx wallpaper except SartheOak which is what I was using.
It only fits this monitor with the zoomed setting. The image is not wide enough.
However the zoomed setting caused the system info to not show up in the conky.
Now using a different picture and all is fine.

Re: Different display same conky

OK. I have discovered that it is the display settings for this monitor that are causing the problem. If I change those the system info show in the conky but conversely when that shows up the display is the wrong size. So it appears there is no fix that will work with this monitor. Thanks for the sug...

Re: Different display same conky

From a live usb the conky shows the system info as it should.
When doing a shut down from the hard drive the system info shows up in the conky for a brief time just before shutdown.

Re: Different display same conky

For some reason I get a syntax error when trying to run the awk command you show and I am not sure what the problem is.
I can't see anything wrong with the files the conky is using.
I am going to print them both and see if I see anything in a side by side comparison.
Thanks duane

Re: Different display same conky

The only thing that stands out as different is the display cables. One being vga the other being display port to HMDI.
Looking as I have time.
