Re: 36 new updates?

that could be just for some residual file updates. - - you could remove them, rather than updating them, .. NB: if you haven't done so, you could update MX15 to MX16, which is what I've done on one of my laptops - but that was 18months ago. .. NB2: you would be wise to update your system, with an cl...

Re: HP Laptop Won't Boot With MX-18 Live USB

okay, since you've disabled secure boot & enabled legacy boot in the BIOS, and can at least boot into MX18 - - but, what about the video card? that sounds problematic. can you boot that Live Media into Compatibility Mode ? - that's often the 2nd item on the Boot Menu List does that make any differen...

Re: It's been really cold lately...

yeah - parts of AUS are getting close to that magic 50C :footinmouth: unless you are in Central Qld - - where everything is getting Flooded out. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-47100700 but in the eastern parts of the NA it's moving from -20F up to +50F or something like that. :alien: https...

Re: Run Windows as a live system

I've also got an similar situation, with an older mini pc, and where it's internal HDD is not recognised any more,,
but it also has several USB 2 / 3 port(s) to utilize. .. so just boot up an usb stick, use an 2nd usb stick for storage,,
- it's a tad slow,, but it works a treat.

Re: Computer Suspending When Display is Blanked

can you start, by changing everything to Never / Do Nothing:
- you've done most of those,, so now change what-ever is left over.
then Test your machine again, for another 24Hrs.

ideally, the machine should now do Nothing,,
but, if it still doesn't Do Nothing, then there is another issue, at hand.

Re: Browsers

the other issue, is that some Browsers are now based on the Chromium Browser Base,
and there is some concern, that Goooogle may interfere with that base,
& as such, some OPs add-ons may stop working.

Re: Browsers

Well, there are ten browsers listed under popular apps in the MX package installer, but I figure you probably know that anyway. The most comprehensive list I've come across is here > https://www.slant.co/topics/4281/~web-browsers-for-linux Although I've not tried most of them, so I can't say how co...

Re: Soon you can have the 'joy' of a Windows subscription

either way - SaaS & DaaS are still coming: - like a Train that you can see in the distance, this Model was fairly obvious, and potentially, will drive ( encourage ) more to shift to the Linux Platform. personally, I've already helped a couple of folks, who had issues in the renewal of their office-3...

Re: When did you start using Linux and why?

from memory- it was Mandriva & it came on one of those UK based Linux-magazines.
& then I'd discovered SimplyMepis - - still got a copy of V3,3 - - must have an ISO, too, I'd assume.
- it was all downhill, after that.
