Quick questions about the flash plug-in

Hello, I've been away for a while, so forgive me if these question have been answered already. 1. I've been updating my flash plug-in manually from the Adobe web site and notice that the version of flash for Linux is now in sync with Windows and Mac OSes (the current flash version is 25.0.0.127). Do...

Re: Browser wars?

The problem of accessing Google Drive using Firefox got worse. Switching the browser to Chrome with User Agent also stopped working. It seems the problem was due to a corrupt Firefox profile. The fix was to create fresh profile: 1. Back up preferences, extensions, and bookmarks using the backup opti...

Re: Browser wars?

Thanks skidoo for your insight. Using a "checking/sniffing" code to ensure a good user experience would make sense if the web page responded with a message saying "your browser is no good" or something like that. But I don't understand why the web page just fails to load without ...

Browser wars?

I use Google Drive to upload files that I share with associates and friends. Yesterday I logged into my account, but the web page wouldn't load -- there was just a spinning circle in the middle of the page that went round and round and ... My web browser of choice is Firefox, and I'm currently using...

Thanks. The mx-flash package for mx14 is version 15.6.1. This one fails to open. Does the 16.7 version still work, and if so, can it be installed in mx14?

Re: MX Flash

When I tried to re-install mx-flashmanager, I discovered that the package was removed from the repository. Was it removed permanently or will it be available at a later time?

Some devede weirdness

I had an unusual experience with devede. I started out by using avconv to clip off the first several minutes from an .mp4 file using avconv. Both the video and audio remaining part of the .mp4 played fine in VLC. Next I used devede to create an .iso file in NTSC format that could be played in an ord...

Re: PDF to JPG

If you want to keep it really simple, use the "convert" command in a terminal: convert input.pdf output.jpg The "convert" command comes with the ImageMagick package. It's really flexible and it handles many kinds of file formats. There are also many options if you want to get fan...

Re: Virtual Box 5.1 is out

Question:

Is it possible to install VB 5.1x in parallel with VB 5.0x as a test install without messing up VB 5.0x? Or does installing VB 5.1x remove VB 5.0x? Or mebbe just wait for the backported version to show up in the CR?

Re: Virtual Box 5.1 is out

If additional packages are required to run VB 5.1 with Wheezy, shouldn't Synaptic either install them or hold back VM 5.1 from being installed? Is there some way a bug report can be sent in to the developers?
