Re: Can't access TCL Flip Phone via USB

Thanks for the suggestion. My phone seems to work a little differently. When I plug it into the computer, it vibrates for a second, but the screen does not change. The only thing that I could think to do was to press NOTIFICATIONS. That showed a message that the USB was connected. When I selected it...

Can't access TCL Flip Phone via USB

I've got a TCL flip phone that has a USB interface. If i plug a USB cable into the phone's USB port and then plug the cable into the computer, the phone name is displayed in the File Manager. However, clicking on the name only shows a blank pane in File Manager. There are at least several folders th...

Re: Purging Waterfox to allow a new installation

Since this may have been some kind of malware, are there any other programs that I can run that would look for and delete malicious programs that might still be on the computer?

Re: Purging Waterfox to allow a new installation

I ran the above command and it looks like everything that is listed is in the home/computername/.waterfox folder. I deleted that so it looks like the purge should be complete. I may have found the issue. A few months ago I was trying to troubleshoot a problem with SAMBA and I left the Firewall set t...

Purging Waterfox to allow a new installation

Over the weekend, I was browsing the web with Waterfox that I had installed from the Package Manager. I left the computer for a couple of hours unattended (at home) with Waterfox open. When I came back, a third tab had been opened with a big red box telling me that McAfee had detected that my Linux ...

Well, it's not just the one machine. The others don't work either. But with Warpinator, it's a moot point.

Re: Setting Up and Sharing Files on the Network - Not fixed but solved [Solved]

Neither I nor anyone else could come up with a method to get SAMBA working on my computers. But then I happened to come across a video on the YouTube "Explaining Computers" channel that talked about a file transfer program called Warpinator. I looked in the MX Package Installer and found t...

Re: Setting Up and Sharing Files on the Network - Can anyone else think of anything? [Solved]

I just got a chance to look at this again. I followed all of the steps above and there is no log file under var/log/samba Computer #1 does show up in the Network display, in a way, but the computer name is not displayed. It is shown as MX. Computer #2 on the network is shown by its correct name. If ...
