Re: About to give-up and move to uBunto Studio
Out of a list of 6, I picked up AVL-MX Dual boot with Win10, but AVL-MX will not be my only Lx installed (Still fighting against myself not to install Suse) Problem is that I've always separated /var; Swap; /Tmp, but if I do so on 2 linux, they will overlap or cross each other, so I need these part...

That depends on how much time and money they give me.Eadwine Rose wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 11:57 am And just like it changes to "what people want the devs to implement"

Re: What killer feature(s) would the MX devs love to implement?
Where do I start? Fine-grained window and decoration metrics and colour scheme support, as was possible on Windows 7 and earlier. 3D style/skeumorphic themes and icons, not like the boring flat icons and boring flat borders of today. UAC-style Sudo prompt that can't be tampered with by applications ...

Re: boot-menu: Memtest86+ [Solved]
The boot item is still there when booted from the live media (DVD/ISO/USB), called Memory Test.

Re: A Cross-Distro Partnership/Alliance
Hi John, As someone who works a lot on the MX/antiX Linux installer and a bunch of other Qt apps within MX Linux, I echo Adrian's sentiment above. Linux has a serious fragmentation issue, with people going at each other's throats over stuff like how to display graphics on the screen and how to start...

Re: New SDD WD with uncorrectable EEC sector counter [Solved]
I would check that the drive's firmware (available with sudo smartctl -x /dev/sda ) is up to date, and if so, contact WD tech support. It looks like a hardware related issue and maybe you need to organise for a warranty replacement. Some uncorrectable ECC sectors aren't going to matter but I find it...

Re: The submitted form was invalid
I haven't seen this when logging in, but I have often seen this happen when posting, but to replicate it:
1. Click on Full Editor & Preview
2. Wait for a while (usually several minutes to hours)
3. Attempt to hit Submit.
This gets that message, it seems to be some session-related timeout.

Re: is bfrs better
Personally I wish btrfs had followed the KISS principle. I didn't see much point including all those RAID modes and bunch of other stuff there when Linux has a good software RAID system and hardware RAID is probably even better anyway. Then perhaps btrfs wouldn't be such a perpetual experiment. Now ...

Re: KDE theme wipes user's files using 'rm -rf'
Not sure whether the actual themes for applications or plasma desktop can contain scripts, but I think the malicious software in question was the GLOBAL "theme", which is actually more like a series of instructions to enable you to set in one click the following: 1. application theme 2. t...
