Are you saying that everything listed at https://www.debian.org/security is a linux kernel update?

Re: Debian kernel updates - why so infrequent?

I believe your misinformed. Probably. I have no software or systems development experience at all. The Debian security page has 12 "linux security update" since Jan 2023. Most of those start with "Several vulnerabilities have been discovered in the Linux kernel..." It seems to m...

Debian kernel updates - why so infrequent?

About once a week, sometimes less than that, kernel.org releases new kernel versions with security fixes. Ubuntu updates their kernels about every two weeks. Debian updates their kernels about every six weeks. Why is Debian so slow? Would it even be smart to use Debian for any type of multi user int...

Re: blocking unsavoury websites

This is what I do. Remove advert-block-antix. I don't think it updates the lists for the /etc/hosts file, but I could be wrong. Those change every few days and need to be constantly updated. I use a hosts file from https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts. There are several files to choose from that inc...

Re: Warpinator

It works great as far as I can tell, but I don't have a real network to test it on. I'm not sure how wifi hotspot mode compares to devices going through a router on wifi or LAN. The only issue is the same thing that I have with some other applications. It doesn't show the correct icon in Docklike Ta...

Thank you.

I had been using the flatpak but I don't really like them because of issues with the .desktop files.

Re: Warpinator

BV206 What was the issue with LocalSend? I don't have a wifi router. Warpinator works perfectly to connect to an android phone using NetworkManager wifi hotspot mode on MX. I don't have firewall rules set for Warpinator so I turn off UFW temporarily until the phone connects. I installed the LocalSe...

Yes. It will not work on my system for some reason. Warpinator works.

Warpinator

Warpinator in the test repo is several versions behind.
I would be nice to have if it doesn't depend on packages that Debian 12 doesn't have.
