Re: No Ethernet on Toshiba NB10-A

I don’t know how to change to a very old kernel to try out the link above. Not that using an old kernel seems like a good idea anyway, want to use the MX18.2 kernels and any associated security updates that go with them. Open MX package installer, expand the Kernels section on the Popular Applicati...

Re: Porgram installation

How do I install programs with MX Package installer? You check the checkbox to the left of the application you want to install then click the Install button down below. Apps that are already installed are in a grey font, not black. You can uninstall them the same way: check the checkbox next to the...

Re: Gnome-keyring - unlocked

You're searching within the main file system, not your home directory. In Thunar file manager click View/Show Hidden Files within your own home directory (which Thunar will open by default when you start it) and you'll see .local. Double-click on it then on share then on keyrings.

Re: Installation problems - again

I was just preparing to do a test installation on my netbook when I saw this post, so in first screen in the installer I added the English UK keyboard layout, deleted the English US layout, clicked Apply then OK. Then later, on the Locale, Timezone and Service screen I again selected English (GB) f...

Re: Microsoft would like to bring Edge to Linux

My 6 year old grandson is always amazed that old films are in B&W... and that they no longer teach that type of writing no one can read. ;) Oh, go on, tell him the truth: the world was black and white back when those films were made. If there's a chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America...

Re: Microsoft would like to bring Edge to Linux

There used to be a huge abundance in search engines back in the day. You had AltaVista, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, etc, even before Google was started. Now that Google has a monopoly (although there is StartPage.com and a handful of others, ultimately relying on Google's results) they can make the results ...

Re: No Ethernet on Toshiba NB10-A

Ah, that's why I missed seeing it. :) If you disable wifi when you left-click on the network icon in the panel's Notification Area are you then able to enable the wired connection by doing the same thing? I read somewhere that some machines can connect using either wifi or Ethernet but they can't bo...

Re: REQUEST: balenaEtcher

Gparted can probably format SD cards and I know it can format USB sticks. There's also mintstick in the repositories which adds a USB formatting tool (and a read-only USB burner) to the Accessories menu. MX Live USB Maker can burn ISOs to USB sticks including ISOs from other Linux distros, and WoeUS...

Re: MX reboots in Arabic!

A web search for "linux language changed after reboot" turned up no results so you're apparently the only person who's ever had this happen. This is a concern: Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release-.list 1: deb [arch=amd64] https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/...
