Re: Wi-Fi Networks: device not ready

Hi. Instead of posting a screen capture please copy the text inside of your terminal then edit your post (using the pencil icon in the forum editor) and paste it inside of [ code] [/code ] tags so others searching the forum can find it. Also please run MX Tools/Quick System Info and paste those resu...

Re: Taking 3 to 4 minutes to boot during startup. Help

Startup finished in 16.228s (kernel) + 2min 13.447s (userspace) = 2min 29.675s That helps narrow it down somewhat. So much for my idea to try different kernels. Does your user's account automatically log in and load the desktop? If so, can you disable the autologin temporarily? I'd like to know if ...

Re: My computer upgrade

Is that Antrim's old computer? :campfire:

I still love that story of his about beating his machine then setting it on fire. I have been SO tempted to do that in the past!

Re: My computer upgrade

BTW I had a few moments of panic earlier about an hour after upgrading the CPU and cooler. I started smelling burning plastic/insulation/electronics! I checked my system's temperatures which were the same then opened the front door and sniffed, and realized it was just one of my neighbors burning th...

Re: Taking 3 to 4 minutes to boot during startup. Help

For older machines, probably makes more sense to use the Debian Stretch default kernel of 4.9. No point moving to even newer kernels than 4.15. This can be found in MX Package installer >> Popular Apps tab >> Kernels Except the OP said The ubuntu LTS OS installed on the system previously was a 64 b...

Re: My computer upgrade

Well, this is the Philippines, so two or three stores there equates to a dozen or more here, with lots of "Out of stock, sir" from sales people. And one or two days for you would probably take me several months and many shopping excursions to get everything, and with some lowering of expectations in...

Re: My computer upgrade

Sorry I didn't take pictures. I was too busy trying to get the new fan and heatsink clipped onto the mounts. I'm not sure if I could ever do what you did and buy components to build a new system one at a time and have to wat until I had them all to assemble a new computer. I'm not that patient. :smi...

Re: Taking 3 to 4 minutes to boot during startup. Help

Just install your chosen kernel in MX Package Installer. Afterward, run MX Tools/MX Boot Options and tic the two checkboxes: Enable saving last boot choice Use flat menus (no submenus) then reboot. When the grub boot menu appears, use your arrow keys to select your preferred kernel then press enter ...
