Re: USB HDD invalid partition table - how to recover?

I did not write anything to the HDD, except that live iso. That should be about 1 GB. I run a test now with similar conditions to see if I understand Testdisk/Photorec and do it the correct way. This seems to take some time.

USB HDD invalid partition table - how to recover?

Dear Team, I did one of the biggest mess someone could do. I am using MX 18. I wanted to make a regular bootable pendive (without persistence) with MX live USB maker. The ISO file was on my backup HDD connected via usb, and I was not carefully enough by choosing the right drive, so it was written to...

Re: CPU speed problem

As an absolute GUI user, the BIOS was my first step, belive me :) There is everything okay. Actually I don't know if the problem was also there before, because that time there was only 512MB RAM inside and I didn't try to wach films. The only time I can remember when it was really running 1,66GHz, w...

Re: CPU speed problem

There must be some kind of general failure. I tried all your suggestions, without success. Then I got angry, so I installed several other distros to see how they handle the cpu. Well, recent Fedora, Manjaro, Vector, openSuse, BunsenLabs shows the same cpu freq of 997Mz whatever I do. However I did'n...

Re: CPU speed problem

So far I see Idon't have the intel_pstate. When I installed indicator-cpufreq there were by default options like powersave, balanced, performance and so, plus the three options of fixed freqs (1Hz, 1.33GHz, 1,66GHz). Sadly it makes no difference which one is marked, the cpu stands all the time at 99...

Re: CPU speed problem

I simply changed Conky to show MHz instead of just percentages. Then I saw the cpu is running only 997MHz up to 100% sometimes for 5 minutes or more. I installed tlpui, changed values, so it should be ok now, but it is sill not working. The statistics of tlpui shows the avaiable freqs of 1GHz, 1,33G...

Re: CPU speed problem

Do you mean like this? Sorry I'm basicly a GUI user and I'm not used to write posts since I usually find solutions, but in this case it seems I couldn't. [inxi -F] System: Host: t60 Kernel: 4.15.0-1-686-pae i686 bits: 32 Desktop: Xfce 4.12.3 Distro: MX-18_386 Continuum March 12 2017 Machine: Type: L...

CPU speed problem

Hello, I use MX since a few months now, and I'm very satisfied. Now, I realize the system is running the CPU on mimimum freq. I changed settings in the BIOS > nothing happened. I was looking for help in the forum, then I found indicator-cpufreq. I installed, and have the possibilities to make change...
