RAM usage was high (700+) That looks way too high. I just checked the 3 Xubuntu live USB sticks I have. I think I solved the issue. I turned off smooth scrolling, enabled hardware acceleration and things are a lot better now.

LXQT is very interesting, like the speed of development. In time it can grow to even replace Xfce. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Xfce guy but I'm afraid it will loose battle over time.

Falkon is nice but last version is from May last year, don't know how safe is to use outdated browser.
