Re: All-In on MX Linux, but can not connect from any cafe/hotel wifi
I don't really know the answer for your portal problem. I hope you get it sorted out. But my tip is to Dual-boot MX with Windows. That way you can always use Windows in a pinch if Linux is not cooperating for some reason. I always keep Windows installed on a partition even if I rarely use it. Use Di...

Re: HP 15 Notebook [Solved]
I have noticed that some of the UEFI systems are quirky. If there is a Legacy boot option I use that. On a couple of my old UEFI systems I end up using F12 to get to the boot menu and can usually boot from there. If all else fails I use a Live USB to boot. I have sometimes been able to run Boot Repa...

Re: 1st install of MX
Welcome to MX. I like that it still supports 32-bit, along with antix. I used Xubuntu also through 18.04. But then switched entirely to MX and antiX. Have you tried the Fluxbox version? Or only the XFCE version?

Re: New to the Club!! [Solved]
Welcome, you'll have to decide for yourself about any "hype". Use the system and ask questions about what you see, like, don't like, in the forums. Bear in mind there are three officially supported "flavors" in MX. The flagship flavor is XFCE (my favorite) and there is also KDE a...

Re: Upgrading to MX-21 from MX-18 - Keep my Home folder
My preference is to simply do a backup of my home folder and then go ahead and install the new system and selectively move what I want from the backup into the new system. Especially from MX-18 to MX-21/22 since the underlying system has changed quite a bit. However, there is a setting in the instal...

Re: install mx linux next to or in addition to windows on hard disk [Solved]
This used to be simpler. In recent years some OEM's have made it very difficult, if not impossible, to run anything other than Windows 11 on a particular machine. So, you'll need to share more information with the forum and hope that someone has similar equipment. What brand? model? did the computer...

Re: Really Old Laptop, new life with MX
Honestly, that computer is not that old. With 4GB of RAM it's much better than a lot of systems I have running MX. I would suggest you try MX XFCE 32-bit. But KDE will work just fine with that equipment. I run it on older Dual Core Pentiums with 2GB of RAM. If you really need to run something lighte...

Re: What computers to buy for Chess? [Solved]
Does not your program you want to run have a "system requirements" document? Why not consult with LCO for the expected system requirements and then meet them in your hardware? Hell, I don't even know what you are talking about and I don't see this as an MX issue.
