Re: shortcuts refuse to open by "insufficient permissions" Error -

What do you mean by "shortcuts?" Shortcuts is MS Windows terminology. Do you mean symbolic links? If yes, what symbolic links? What or who created the symbolic links. Can you provide an example, i.e. "ls -l symbolic_link" Unless you are a Unix/Linux Wizard, I think you should cre...

Re: Question on booting a persistent USB installation in Virtualbox

I can usually boot a usb flash drive containing an MX-Live-usb system by setting the VirtualBox virtual machine setting for system to Enable EFI and giving the mounted USB drive to VirtualBox VM with the USB icon on the VM "task bar." I don't do any creating of files or special directories...

Re: Memory Issue on USB after upgrade

DukeComposed , we were like ships crossing paths in the night with the user of that word "fundamental." However, running the live-usb with persistence, allows the user to save each live session either on-the-fly or at the end of a session, and re-load those changes "persistently"...

Re: Memory Issue on USB after upgrade

les-spoon , it would appear that you may be proceeding to create, use, update an MX live-usb on the basis of a fundamental misunderstanding of how the antiX/MX live-usb system works. Because of that, you can't just tweak what you are doing in order to get on the right path. It would serve you well ...

Re: How to keep several OS in one USB, copied partitions. [Solved]

For the purpose of archiving, you can put as many snapshot ISO files as will fit on a flash drive. Those snapshot ISO's contain the compressed operating system and files (except those that were excluded during creation of the snapshot) and are suitable for using with Live-USB-maker. You can also cre...

Thank you both, @ProwlerGr and @anticapitalista. I feel fully informed and oriented. I don't have an opinion yet. I'll study and experiment as time allows. Thanks for your work.

Re: [noob] how to recover from failed 6.1.0-18 upgrade [Solved]

Note: When pruning old kernels from your machine, it's usually a good idea to keep at least one previous kernels (usually the most recent previous version) that you know works. That way if one should bork their current kernel, it's still possible to boot into the older version in order to attempt to...

Re: UNOFFICIAL antiX-23 “init-diversity” spin.

@anticapitalista, what was/were the motivation(s) to be experimenting with multiple init/RC systems? As a followup question, whey not also OpenRC which is well supported. I'm curious, not hostile. Are one of these possibly the future of mainstream antiX?
