For a start, install and use advert-block-antix.
Use these two DNS resolvers: 94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15 (adguard.com public DNS). https://adguard.com/
You can also install the adguard browser extension.
Some VPNs will do this for you as another layer, i.e. ProtonVPN.

Here is the command. No application needed. Mount it, then browse it. Adjust to meet your particular use case; name of iso and mountpoint.

I can usually boot a usb flash drive containing an MX-Live-usb system by setting the VirtualBox virtual machine setting for system to Enable EFI and giving the mounted USB drive to VirtualBox VM with the USB icon on the VM "task bar." I don't do any creating of files or special directories...

les-spoon , it would appear that you may be proceeding to create, use, update an MX live-usb on the basis of a fundamental misunderstanding of how the antiX/MX live-usb system works. Because of that, you can't just tweak what you are doing in order to get on the right path. It would serve you well ...
