Re: MX 17 Repository: The Backported Debian Kernel Thread

It depends on when the Sid maintainer updates it, though I'll look to see if I can do that myself...OK, it's in Sid now--backporting it now. The backported kernel version in the test repo has just been updated to 4.17.0-3 (4.17.15), so the same search and install method in Synaptic applies, as it ag...

Re: kernel options

PS 4.17.15-1 is fixed according to https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2018-3620 Well, I'm backporting the 4.17.15 Sid kernel, but I'm not convinced that this new exploit is that much of a threat for desktop Linux ...

Re: MX 17 Repository: The qBittorrent Thread

Whoops, the new version doesn't install the menu's desktop file automatically for some reason, so I'm rebuilding a -2 version with a fix.

The fixed version will be here temporarily (19 MB): https://drive.google.com/open?id=17ID_K ... 9H6Jwy8cXZ

The single-deb binary is about 5 MB if you want to try a manual download and install: http://mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo/pool/test/q/qbittorrent/

Re: Simplescreenrecorder installed will not open

Running "simplescreenrecorder" from the terminal gives a lot of feedback with a working installation, so odds are good it would throw an informative error on a broken one, too.

Re: Can't Log In After Update

I don't know if it's related, but on the Acer laptop with working Bumblebee switching, the Nvidia updates in the recent Debian 9.5 release built correctly, but then Bumblebee stopped working. It started working again when I upgraded the Nvidia drivers to the version in our test repo.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Pale Moon Browser Thread

Do you have a nonsse2 version? They removed any support for non-sse2 builds. :frown: That is bad news. So latest nonsse2 is 27.9.4? Yup, that's the last one where the option to build without it is supported. The developer also asked me to take it off my OBS repo to avoid any confusion with the curr...

Re: The end of spinning rust...

Intel has a $99 512 GB NVme SSD drive out now: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page= ... 660p&num=1

I wonder if decades from now, hipsters will still be using the spinning drives because they say the data off those is more authentic and warmer. :p
