Re: easymp3gain

We don't have any "easygain" package in the repos, but we do have "easygain-gtk" and "easygain-qt" GUIs. I installed the -gtk package and can choose folders and files. It seems to make a distinction between audio and mp3 files in the filter at the bottom of the file chooser. You may have to install ...

Re: LibreOffice Removal and Test Repo vs AppImage

You do not need to remove LibreOffice 6.0.1 before upgrading to the 6.1.5 version from the test repo, or running it from an appimage, at least from my test upgrade. It did remove the old galaxy style package in favor of a more modern one. I don't know how feasible more upgrades for the test repo wil...

Re: How to change window manager

Do you mean a real window manager such as compiz, kwin, and xfwm4, or what XFCE calls a window manager, which are just window decorations--titlebars and borders? No matter what, yes, you can change either in XFCE without breaking anything; just check out the threads for using kwin or compiz in MX. Y...

Re: How to remove non-free packages faster? [Solved]

I'm assuming that they only use the Atheros wi-fi chips that don't need non-free firmware, and that open source and expensive ARM CPU. No Intel chipsets newer than Skylake that need firmware-misc-nonfree either. Since hard and optical drives also contain non-free firmware, as do even USB flash drive...

Re: connman wifi manager

Most of the packages available in MX and antiX do come directly from Debian.

Re: brightness level does not change

Some other posts on the Ubuntu forums for similar eMachines suggest adding the kernel boot parameter

Code: Select all

acpi_osi=Linux

which can be done easily in MX Boot manager, or temporily at boot by editing the GRUB command line--put it next to "quiet".

Re: Package Request MX-18 - PhotoFilmStrip

I ran into the same problem as with Kicad with the newer SIP that the later PFSs require breaking a lot of existing programs, but I can package and install PFS 3.3.1 from the Debian snapshot archives safely for MX 15-18: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CdN-k ... HMke8crE_g

Re: Unable to install wine

Some good reading on how not to break Debian and MX: https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian

You can request an MX backport of whatever program required that newer liblcms library, too.

Re: Programs trouble ,not working in mx18

For a specific program such as Shotcut, please report the problem with the exact error messages on the appropriate thread, such as viewtopic.php?f=134&t=48653

We can't help with unclear problems such as "breaks many things".
