Re: Qomui VPN Client

They have a deb file...did you try a test install? It also might need you to be running with systemd--I can't be sure from their instructions.

Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The linux-liquorix kernel thread

The new 4.17-10 (based on 4.17.14) release is now in the test repo. This now has a workaround for the MuQSS scheduler bug that was causing it to use excess CPU cycles, so should improve the battery life somewhat. CPU use at idle should now approach that of the Debian kernel.

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

Pale Moon 28.0.0 apparently now has an gold release: https://github.com/MoonchildProductions/UXP/releases, so I'll see about building MX packages and see when they officially announce it. It now will build on gcc-4.9 through 7, 28.1.0 will support Buster's default gcc-8. I've added some code that'll...

Re: MX Unofficial Respin

That sounds like a nice project, and I don't think MX developers would have any objections to it at all. Are you going to share it? You could put it up on a Google Drive or the like if you don't hit their download limit, or archive.org also allows software projects and no download limits, as far as ...

Re: share folders

Does the version now in our test repo work? I don't have any way to test it.

Re: how to install MX

Are you going to have Peppermint handle GRUB? If so, have the MX installer install GRUB in the root of the MX install partition instead of the boot partition, then when you update GRUB in Peppermint, it should pick up and chainload the MX GRUB automatically.

Re: Can anyone recommend to me a cheapish, current model notebook that loves Linux?

The Acer v5 I've used has a reasonably fast Skylake 2-core/4 thread i5-6500u CPU that would only draw 15 watts max if you ran it all out, and took about an hour to compile a Liquorix kernel. It was able to use va-api hardware accelerated video decoding, too, so could play h.264 4K content with the i...

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Backported Debian Kernel Thread

The backport kernel version in the test repo has now been updated to an ABI of 4.17.0-2 (4.17.14). There's no metapackage for it yet, but it can be installed in Synaptic by doing a quick search for "4.17.0-2", then installing the appropriate linux-headers and linux-image for your current platform ("...
