Re: battery drain in suspended state

This is one of things that a BIOS update might fix, if it's available. Otherwise, you could try a newer kernel to see if that makes any difference, though I have my doubts about that. Maybe some USB ports are being left energized during the suspend, or wake on LAN, so you can try disabling those in ...

Re: Good WiFi dongle?

Check out these: https://www.wirelesshack.org/top-linux- ... pters.html

and also the reviews at Amazon. I know that ones based on the Atheros 9271 just work out of the box on MX, too.

Re: Crispier theme and font display

We'd like to take credit for that, but I'm not aware that we added anything that would affect the theme and font display for the main repo. Perhaps showing us what packages you updated, using the "History" in MX-Updater, would provide a clue, though.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Virtual Box Thread

Updated to 5.2.16, sourced from Debian Sid, in the test repo. Debian has added their own patch to prevent the guest modules from trying to load on a real hardware install, but it may throw up a message informing the user that they aren't loading.

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

Built a newer git pull of xserver-xorg-video-intel that fixes video glitches I was getting in 3D games such as 0ad or Chromium-BSU with my 8th-gen GPU. Sending it to the experimental repo, since most users aren't complaining about the glitches...but we will eventually see more of the same new hardwa...

Re: MX 17 Repository: The VLC Thread

Debian has now pushed a VLC 3.0.3 build into the Stretch security updates that is seen as an upgrade over our test repo version, so we may as well pull our build. I have noticed with my Coffee Lake Intel GPU, VLC 3.X works well with the "intel" video driver, but switching to the Debian default modes...

Re: Noise when watching videos

The Google showed me HP Elitebook 840s ranging from Intel 5th to 8th generation, so HOAS's advice could be very relevant for the latter ones. An easy way to show us the hardware is to install inxi, then update your hardware ID database as sysadmin: update-pciids update-usbids Then the output as a re...
