Re: Dell XPS 15 9560 and MX 18

If your laptop locks up during boot when starting the graphical display you may need to add a kernel parameter to set acpi_osi="!Windows 2015" or some variant.

This is a known ACPI problem with 2017 Dell XPS 15 and others. Refer to Bumblebee github issue #764.

Hey, supertux is a different game than supertuxkart! No hijacking this thread, or I will have to send you a very strongly worded letter!

Re: More testing for VLC 3.0.5?

Big Buck Bunny is encoded in HEVC (h.265), not AV1, on that Elecard download link.

Re: More testing for VLC 3.0.5?

We've also updated to 3.0.6 in the main repo, so this thread for 3.0.5 has reached end-of-life.

Re: Question about Swap Partition

Thanks for the quick reply. So, no, MX Linux will NOT make a swapfile if I have no Swap Partition. And No I do not absolutely need a Swap Partition. So, what are the drawbacks of not having a Swap Partition on a machine with 8 GB of ram? I ask, as my boot drive is SSD, so constant swapping reduces ...

Re: (SOLVED) PyCharm: Unable to locate package snapd-xdg-open

Yes, most if not all snaps to require that you boot with systemd running. You can use MX Boot Options to have GRUB remember the last way you booted, but if suspend and resume are working, you really shouldn't have to reboot very often at all. Systemd is safe to run in MX, as far as it goes. You now ...

Re: Dell XPS 15 9560: Kernel Panic after installing Nvidia drivers

Maybe this applies from the Debian wiki for Bumblebee: - If your laptop locks up during boot when starting the graphical display you may need to add a kernel parameter to set acpi_osi="!Windows 2015" or some variant. This is a known ACPI problem with 2017 Dell XPS 15 and others. Refer to Bumblebee g...

Re: MX-17.1: Could not install "libx11-dev" due to upgraded "libxcb1"

libxcb1 1.12-3 is coming from the antiX repo, where it was updated for some unknown reason. But libx11-dev installs fine on MX 17/18, which enables the antiX repo by default, so you must have some issue with the antiX repo.

Re: Mozilla to Disable Flash in Firefox 69 [News]

We'll probably remove it from the ISO if our default browser doesn't support it. We'll keep it updated in the repo until the end, though.

I suggest checking first to make that a repo man hasn't already been there and done that: https://repology.org/metapackage/geary/versions
