Re: How to properly update mesa to 18.x.x?

Or if you really need it now, you can look at the thread for those doing the test upgrade from MX 17 to 18, which has Mesa 18.2.6.

Re: WiFi card on Mint Box mini

What does "inxi -N" report in MX? That Ralink 5370 is supposed to be supported by the same rt2800usb driver in our kernel as in Mint or other distros. You can also check to see if the device appears in the MX Network Assistant, and what driver it's using. The output of rfkill list might also be usef...

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Mpv Thread

We have now updated to 0.29.1 in the test repository, built against the newly backported ffmpeg 4.0.3 in the test repo. This adds support for playback of videos encoded in the hot new AV1 fully open and libre video codec, using libaom. Note that this reference version also offers encoding to the "av...

A minor oddity i noticed in 18b1: the firefox about box mentions MX-Linux 1.0 (?!?)
Not just in the Beta, for any current version of MX: 16, 17, etc. It's a quirk of the distribution.ini file we add.

Re: New Review: Five Reasons to use MX Linux

"I'd use it but Joe Johnson is a big fan of MX and he's literally the most toxic member of the linux community" Who is this guy? I tried to find out some information about him, but couldn't find anything. I'm going straight to Godwin's Law to save some time with this logical fallacy: Just because H...

MX 17 Repository: The Grive Thread

We now have an updated version in the test repo that should fix a few bugs. One difference I see is that it's a lot faster to start uploading if you have a lot of files in the GDrive sync folder. Grive is a command-line program to sync a local folder with your Google Drive. For the first time runnin...

Re: Apparently I am not using intel graphics or modesetting

You're using the modesetting driver provided by the kernel. That's the default you get with anything than around Haswell (intel 2nd-generation) or newer, even if you already have xserver-xorg-video-intel installed. You have to force use of that "intel" driver, and the easy way to do that is to set i...

Re: Wow, somebody was busy uploading our ISOs to archive.org

Is there any way to delete from archive an upload or it goes against what archive.org is supposed to be? I've been able to delete or later add files to an upload by going into the editing mode for it, so you could remove all the files. I'm sure there's some way to completely delete an upload, but I...
