Re: Simple command to check Meltdown and Spectre kernel status

The middle line is now

Code: Select all

/sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/spectre_v1:Mitigation: __user pointer sanitization

with the 4.15 kernel.

Re: Simple command to check Meltdown and Spectre kernel status

The newer 4.14.17 kernel (amd64) is built and is seen as an upgrade to the 4.14.13 kernel. It provides these results: /sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/meltdown:Mitigation: PTI /sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/spectre_v1:Vulnerable /sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/spectre_v2:Miti...

Re: MX 17 Repository: The qBittorrent Thread

The latest release, 4.0.4, is now in the test repository. It is built against an updated libtorrent-rasterbar 1.1.5, which is also in the test repo and will be pulled in automatically. Changes can be viewed here.

Re: Creating zip compatible with Windows

The best option would be to create our own p7zip-natspec forked package by porting over libnatspec from its PPA and applying the patch from the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/ ... ip-natspec.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Pale Moon Browser Thread

@all: One general question: Would you consider saving login passwords in Pale Moon to be "safe"? Greetings, and thanks in advance for your answers, Joe Not if someone gets access to your browser for a minute so they can look at them; that's the same as in Firefox. Using a "password s...

I would consider Windows a broken operating system if it can't read very commonly used file systems out of the box. :p

Re: [Needs packaging] Areca Backup, a GPL v2 backup software full of cool features

Have you made the changes to the file as suggested in the post (comment out the three lines in the first change, then add the lines in the second fix) to see if it works in your install? If it works, that fix is easy enough to package as a patch.

Re: Simple command to check Meltdown and Spectre kernel status

We are hoping that building kernels with the updated compilers will provide better results. For example, with the Liquorix 4.14-29 amd64 now in the test repo, I get: $ grep . /sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/* /sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/meltdown:Mitigation: PTI /sys/devices/syste...
