Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles

A nice review, except they didn't bother to find out about a current claws-mail in the test repo: Version: 18.1 Rating: 9 Date: 2019-03-24 Votes: 3 Really impressive, easy to install but just as good from a USB stick. Debian based so huge software base available. Boot is fast stability in my experie...

Re: AMD Ryzen 2700X Sensors Not Working - MX 18.1 x64

chippy52, It's the latest available for MX 18.1, and my mistake, k10temp is running and outputting correct temps. I loaded psensor and saw it showing up just fine there. Thanks for responding! :-) 2700Xtemps.jpg Goose We do have some 4.20 and 5.0 kernels in our test repository, and I think antiX ha...

Re: MX tuned for audio - freezes randomly - hard reboot required

The stock kernel is backported from Debian, and is not very good for audio work, even though the kernel context switch frequency is boosted up to 1000 Hz from 250. A lot of users have reported success using the low-latency Liquorix kernels, though, and we have various backported releases in the main...

Re: Long boot time, can I speed things up?

Out of curiosity, I see you're running a real-time kernel, which not many of our users do. Is this for multimedia creation reasons?

Re: [SOLVED] It is possible to remove firefox-esr whthout installing other browser ?

They would need one of the two virtual packages I listed above, not the actual firefox-esr package. Maybe you could search your installed packages in Synaptic for "metapackage" to see if you have any installed.

Re: New to MX

Giving us a nice review on Distrowatch would also be a good way to spend that extra time--or making a snapshot of your fresh install as a backup, just in case. Maybe we need a listicle or Youtube video of "Top Ten Things to do After Installing MX", which would be different from most similar articles...

Re: gnutv (or even maybe me-tv)

Usually, in MX, you can just click on a deb file to install it with gdebi, and it will pull in all the dependencies automatically. You can also right click the deb in our Thunar file manager, and you'll have an option to install it in a terminal with apt, which is faster, but still pulls in all the ...

Re: [SOLVED] Can not install Nvidia graphics

No, the 390.87 nvidia driver builds out of the box on MX 18, that's something that was extensively tested. Since then, Stretch has updated the driver to a version higher than ours, but it still builds. It must be something you did to your system, since everyone else can build the drivers right out o...

Re: An Epiphany of sorts

Just tried Mx on a buddy's two laptops this morning. Cr@ppy sound level. Even with VLC maxed out and system volume maxed out the volume was still far too low compared to his Ubuntu Mate install. Strain to hear the movie. Acer Aspire 7535 (came with win7 not the Vista one) and a Toshiba Satellite C6...

Re: MX Cinnamon respin / remastering not possible

Cinnamon 4 is now available in the MX test repo. It seems to run OK in my limited testing. It does not require systemd to be running. That's a relief. And you updated it since we last talked about it? Sweet! I'll check it out as soon as possible. Yes, I also did some wacom library updates. I think ...
