Re: Open letter to the MX developers from an Ubuntu user

The behavior of network-manager-applet is hardcoded to be alphabetical by design. The developers have been asked to change it, and this is an answer I found: We do understand that at the very first time you setup your computer (or when you're travelling somewhere), there is a need to select networks...

Re: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely

The New Zealand repository might be having troubles; it's had them in the past. Try switching the MX repos to another location with the repo manager, then running the Check Apt GPG again to see if that fixes the error.

Re: Love the clock and monitor--WHERE DID IT GO?

Actually, that Conky theme on the desktop is a rather tame and sedate one. MX Conky and and conky-manager allow you to select from a variety of other themes included on the distro, and there are many others out there on the Net--but you have no idea of the customization rabbit hole that can lead you...

The first thing is to try "MX Check APT GPG" from the menu.

Re: Laptop

Most everything works out of the box on my Acer Aspire e5-575G-53VG, including the Optimus video card switching after using the Nvidia driver installer. The hotkey to turn off the wifi doesn't seem to work, but I don't miss that.

Re: [Solved] Smplayer no longer works

After some false starts, I got a mpv 0.28 built with the internal ffmpeg on 64-bit, and a Youtube live stream will play in SMPlayer using it as the back end. Trying to get 32-bit mpv built now.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread

SMPlayer has been updated to 18.1.0 in the main repository to address some Youtube playback issues.

I have just tested it with an experimental build of mpv 0.28.0 (internal ffmpeg) as the backend, and it could play a Youtube live stream.

Re: 4.14.9 Kernel crashes

I can't remember if I had to patch the MX version of the 375.82 Nvidia driver to build with the 4.14 kernel...I don't believe so. I do know that at least broadcom-sta-dkms, ndiswrapper, and the Debian virtualbox had to be updated, the stretch-backports versions of those are not compatible with the n...

Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The linux-liquorix kernel thread

We are now up to 4.14-17 (4.14-13.2) in the test repo. This incorporates up to the vanilla kernel 4.14.14 rc2 release.
