Re: How to control the fan on Dell laptop?

We have intel-microcode in the repository already, so no need to get it from Intel.

Iuvolt saves battery life and keeps the CPU cooler, too. I use it all the time on my laptop--it reduces thermal throttling when all cores are at 100%. https://github.com/tiziw/iuvolt

Re: How to control the fan on Dell laptop?

Well, 38 C is about what my i7-8750H idles at (though maximum temperatures under load can be lowered by use of the iuvolt script). We do have a newer i8kutils 1.43 in the test repo I would try, since you have new hardware. I can't control my fan on the MSI at all, though apparently it can be done in...

Re: Loads of upgrades

JanK is referring to the bad old days with updates on Windows, no doubt.

I wonder why antiX just pushed an update to gksu to 2.1.0 that we also received, though.

Re: Dedo reviews Xfce apps

When I run the Test Repo version in a terminal, I get about 20 repeats of this: (midori:1435): Gtk-WARNING **: 15:59:46.572: Allocating size to GtkBox 0x55dd031de820 without calling gtk_widget_get_preferred_width/height(). How does the code know the size to allocate? Still works, but I wonder what ...

Libreoffice
Which version?
6.1.5 from Buster. Experimental has 6.2.0, but we probably want to stay away from that for now.

Re: Dedo reviews Xfce apps

I couldn't tell whether he was testing ye olde Midori 0.5 or or Midori 7, myself.
We could make sure he gets 7 by moving it to main, which it seems to be ready for.

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

Libreoffice built, installs, and works OK, so will send to test repo.

Trying a build of Python 3.7 that should coexist with the system's default 3.5--I think you'd just invoke it with "python3.7" instead of "python3", but will test that.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Backported Debian Kernel Thread

The test repo version has been updated to the latest 4.19.20 from Sid, which has the 4.19.0-3 ABI version.

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

Managed to get Libreoffice 6.1.5 from Sid to at least start building by liberally applying the changes that stretch-backports did for 6.1.5~rc1. I also had to change the DEB_DISTRIBUTION conditional in debian/rules from "stretch-backports" to "mx" for it to correctly generate the right set of build-...
