MX Package installer also has a kde-standard install that I think is more complete than Synaptic's. You could also turn on recommended packages in Synaptic.

Tim should still have our 3.3 version deb files handy if you want to install those on MX and see if it's a packaging configuration problem. We backport our packages from upstream Debian source code, too, and that is many times easier for the regular user than compiling from raw source like you did, ...

Just "optirun" works OK for me on a Acer 2016 E5-575 and 2018 MSI GP63-8RD laptop, but "primusrun" doesn't work. We added the virtualgl and virtualgl-libs:i386 packages to the Bumblebee install to get those working out of the box. Maybe your symlinks will get primusrun working on these machines, too...

Depending on how big a included screenshot png is in the source, sometimes I remove it or don't install it. No use including a 900K png file with a 32K cursor theme, IMO. I have broke things using Backports in Debian Stable and they are very conservative. I don't recommend Backports unless your computer won't run, or you can't get your work done without something from Backports. MX is unlikely to break on you using default settings and using the recommended dist-upg...
