Re: Can you add Albert to MX-19?

[...] I was hoping to get some extra help with doing those with novice packagers, since rebuilding from stuff we've already packaged should be quite simple*. [...] What's needed for this? I've a couple of Laptops and a few Desktops doing nothing that I could set up - although I'm sure a couple won'...

Re: "New" HP laptop

Jay is in the Phillipines, so winter cold there is not so much a concern. Jay, did you ever manage to check if the Atom machine supported va-api hardware accelerated video? I used it on my laptop on battery to watch the Youtube live-streamed MLB game of the week a couple nights ago with accelerated ...

Re: ZFS on 18.3: which package to install?

Get the packages from the MX main repo, since the standard Debian versions are too old for our kernel: $ apt policy zfs* zfsutils: Installed: (none) Candidate: (none) Version table: zfs-dracut: Installed: (none) Candidate: 0.7.13-1~mx17+1 Version table: 0.7.13-1~mx17+1 500 500 http://la.mxrepo.com/m...

Re: mtpaint 3.49

Since our normal procedure for getting an updated version of a program is to request that the packagers build it for our own repo, we don't have any experience with handling alien binaries and the problems those can cause. Here's MX deb packages for mtpaint-3.49.19 and its handbook: https://drive.go...

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback

Couldn't we ship the ISO with a fancy example config file in /etc/skel, ready to take effect if the user decides to install redshift? Then they'd just have to edit the file already in their home folder.

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback

Yes, we can install an example config file with the main package if it doesn't already ship one, or a better version if the included one is lame. A normal location for one would be usr/share/doc/redshift. Looking... Redshift already ships with /usr/share/doc/redshift/example-redshift.conf. Is that w...

Re: Can you add Albert to MX-19?

The current release has been in the MX 17/18 test repo for some time. I rebuilt it for MX 19 main, and at the same time asked Tim to move the MX 17/18 version to main along with it.

I can see that they are both there now: http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/pool/main/a/albert/

Re: a couple of points of clarification please...

MX lets you save your home folder and all its settings on a reinstall, too. I did that for the jump from MX 16 to 17, restoring the installed packages from a list another program generated, and it was pretty quick and relatively painless. The newer XFCE in MX 19 won't look good in many older themes,...
